Hi -- No, I have heard nothing more about that. I think he builds some of these project boats and leaves them in the place where he built and used them (probably giving them away). He seems to be focusing these days on his life in San Francisco area, doing various "landscaping ecology" type of projects. I am not aware of him recently doing the same kinds of boating projects and adventures as he used to, though I believe he is still sailing his outrigger canoe made from a Tornado hull, and perhaps he and his friends still enjoy the "free trimaran" he got and fixed up. We in the outrigger community certainly do miss Tim's "leading bleeding edge" adventures.
Glad you can use it!
The Watertribe organization (www.watertribe.org, also they have an old .com site) used to sell them; they were designed by Steve Isaacs collaborating with the company Jack's Plastic Welding (experienced in whitewater rafts). I do not think they are sold any more. Too bad! These are superb inflatables for an outrigger canoe and have been used successfully by a few boats during the demanding Everglades Challenge event.
Thanks for the support. I hope to add to the "light outrigger" page soon; classes are done, I have summer off, and can accelerate that project a bit. By all means, build a boat! There are so many great designs out there now. The company Chesapeake Light Craft sells many pre-cut kits for kayaks, row boats, small sailboats, and an outrigger canoe..... And you can always try your own design (though do not do it the way I did it -- read some books first :-) --Wade
