No arguments from me.
And remember that when you're painting, do the trim first ( base, casings, etc. ) and then cut in the walls against the trim so that you can roll quickly. Put masking tape on your base top so that splatter won't fall onto your beautifully painted base.
From a guy who had to patch walls for over 30 years, fill the hole with plaster so it sets fast but as soon as the plaster ( and use just enough to cover the hole not half the wall ) you use a wet sponge and gently wipe the affected area so that just the patched hole remains. Let this set ( about 5 - 10 minutes ) and go do the next one.Come back when fully set and then use drywall mud. Put a little smear on a 3 or 4" scraper and pull along the surface of the wall where the hole was so that you are "smearing" the compound across the hole area. You will have to practice with the amount of mud and pressure but it won't take you long to work it out to where you leave a "skipped" mud trail. The result will be a fast method of repairing holes at minimal expense. This can work for holes up to about 2" by using the plaster mixed thick and pulled from the center of the hole towards the edge. Build up around the edge of the hole and then finally one last sweep across the entirety of the hole. The sponging is the important part so that there is no sanding and no mud anywhere but the hole.
