I deleted my post about corrosion as it was wrong/misleading. Not sure what I was thinking when I posted it but it was really off. The replies to that post are spot on correct. My apologies to the OP and other posters../shame mode ONPure alum or a 1xxx series does corrode instantly but only on the surface. This surface layer then stops any further corrosion. Other grades of alum do the same but at different speeds. Some like 6061 are considered corrosion resistant which is why 6xxx series is used in salt water and fresh water boats and all sorts of places.Alum does suffer from a few forms of destructive corrosion and these either look like bubbles under the surface or a white powder. The nice thing about the instructable is replacing any bad shingles is soooooo cheap. Lol. If you don't experience any of these destructive corrosions you should get many years out of a pop can roof!Years later I still think this is a great instructable!
yah this one goes back a few years lol. One thing that you should emphasize is that it would take several stills to actually have enough water to function. One is really iffy in most climates and not enough in hot areas to let you do more than sit around. In those places you need a few stills or figure out how to stop leaking :-)

I have seen quite a few guys using Sharpy brand or Stadatelar brand black or red felt pens with good results. I haven't tried this myself but for the price of a pair of used drives and a felt pen it would be a cheap experiment to try!
I wonder if this would work to lay down etch resistive ink onto small pubs? If it did it would be very slick to make small boards!
I wonder if this could be adapted to lay down etch resisting ink onto the copper of small pcb's? If it could it would be very handy for laying out boards without using a transfer or other system.
