I have killed some, had some killed, and had some die, but Rugby was the only one that I grieved over for months and kept looking for for years. I would feel as if he were just out of my line of sight behind me. I would catch myself getting ready to feed him scraps. Even after we got another dog a year later. So I will always take care of my own pets "funerals"; whether I dig a grave or feed the buzzards. I say goodbye. BTW: I don't find rotting into the earth "wrong" nor being buzzard food. It is as God intended. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. Not dust in a collectable tin can on a shelf. If I could I would be buried in a corn field somewhere, naked and left to return to whence I came. Nothing grows in a marble orchard.
