    The problem seems to be with linphone accessing the sound card. No idea what the problem might be. The loopback device does work otherwise: setting the playback to it does produce sound on my TV.

    It doesn't state which version(s) of the software are used. At least the debian version should be mentioned. On debian jessie the above asound.conf doesn't work. You have to remove the 'device' string from the beginning of line 19.But even after doing that it turned out not to be working :-/. Nothing is heard over the sip call. This may or may not be related to the above asound.conf issue.
