What a pretty result you got from so humble a pot! Great idea. For future projects, there's a product called rub n buff that is great for highlighting textures and design elements, and it comes in various metals. It's about the consistency of a thick paint; to apply, you rub it on (with fingers/rag/paper towel/sponge/whatever's handy), then buff with a soft cloth to make it shine like real metal. It's inexpensive, and a tiny bit goes a long way, so the tubes last forever. You can find it in most craft stores, and I think also on Amazon. (if you can't tell, I absolutely love this stuff, lol)
