Once getting the cap off shave down the spikey things on the bottle with a box cutter (strait razor) so cap cant grip back. Plastic is really soft and easy to shave off!
How to remove the cap on a Swiffer Wet-Jet cleaner bottle.
AND....then you can use a washable cloth dust mop type thing - the kind that comes on the newer dust mops. I use the floor pad from my Dirt Devil cordless vac. Then you just slip it off when ur done, rinse it out in the sink and wallah.
OMG! It worked!! Thank you so so so much for posting this. It's gonna save my family so much money and time.
Of course. Thanks so much.
You are great. Thank you! - bspagel
Is this trick safe for bottles that are still fully filled with the solution? Of not, does anyone have any idea ad to how I open the dang cap off - Betari RizqikaR
Good God Sir!You have saved my Fourth of July! (Unexpected visitors, abnormally sticky kitchen floor--new roommate spilled a porter last night and neglected to clean).Fantastic.
Perfect. I used a heat gun for about 45 seconds on medium, plastic was just starting to get tacky to the touch. Put on an oven mitt and it twisted right off. Thanks for the tip!
Cudos to you!! I have tried unsuccessfully numerous times to get that dang cap off. Can't wait to finish existing solution and give this a try. Thanks you are a genius!
I also have the Shark Steam and Spray mop and was so excited to be able to get the cap off. Although there are quite a few prongs under the cap I did tackle removing the very tip of them and succeeded. After doing all of that I noticed that there were fewer prongs on the bottle itself that grabbed onto the cap and experimented on removing them too. The ones on the bottle are much easier to remove you just have to be careful not to remove too much and put a hole in the bottle. With both of them removed I can definitely place and remove the cap with no problem. I do have another bottle that is not empty yet so I will try just removing the prongs from bottle on that one to see if it works. I'll let you know how it goes.
What do you use to refill with. I did not like the smell of the orginal cleaner?
OK. Let's make it simple. Grab a drill. Buy a 50 cent cork. Drill a hole in the top. Fill, put the cork in... Done... forever.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I didn't see all the steps at first and wondered what the hell I needed the nail clippers for. I did have to use a plier to get the cap off (I am not very strong), but the clipping part was pretty easy, I am thrilled because I can save a lot of $$$$$ this way!
Did you use straight thieves or to that quarter cup fill the rest with water? What ratio of thieves to water is that? - Dederamon
I used about 1/4 cup - EstherE2
How much thieves cleaner do you use for a swiffer refill, EstherE2?
I use young living essentials, so I put Theives cleaning solution and filled rest with water. Kills germs and smells awesome. Also safe if you have pets or crawling babies.
I picked this up from cleaning ladies. Get a ten pack of bar mop rags throw them down doubled and start cleaning. They stick to the velcro on the mop
