I finally made one of these! It's for my sister's daughter, so I adapted one of my sister's own songs for the record. I did need to make some of the changes that timmmmyboy mentioned. In particular, I needed to make the ridges between the grooves thinner. They needed to be a single line thick on my printer; two lines was enough to give it trouble playing. I overcorrected a little and some of the ridges didn't print at all, but this didn't affect playback. So it's definitely possible to get a playable disc with today's budget FDM models. (Mine's a [somewhat modified] Monoprice Maker Select, to give you an idea of the price range.) I did have to do some post-print cleanup--there were some "stringing" artifacts to cut out, and I had to sand down the top a little to smooth it out. ...

But I did get it working in the end!I do think I'll also update my copy of the software with the tuning that twagoo gave (G# Major). I got the chorus working for her song, but the verse sounded all wrong on the actual record player, and I think part of that was the mismatch between the notes the software played and the notes the actual device produces. I'm hoping I can get the full song into the right mode and present it to her later. Thanks so much for all the work you did on this! I'd never have done it all on my own.
