I wouldn't even call it a string, which is usually made of fibres, this is a tape with no adhesive.
Having worked in recycling, we hate designers who use these things because they are a pain in the arse to separate from plastic, being tiny, hard to see and weakly magnetic. This leaves either painstakingly staring at casings to rip them out manually or wearing down the blades on shredders before separating them in a sink-float tank.Sorry I don't have anything positive to say here. £#€& threaded inserts. Please never use these with plastic that doesn't biodegrade quickly.
