When an individual has alcohol poisoning they have ingested a toxic quantity of alcohol, usually over a short period. Their blood alcohol amount is so great it is regarded as toxic (poisonous). The patient could become incredibly perplexed, unresponsive, puzzled, have shallow breathing, and can even pass out or even go into a coma. Acute alcohol poisoning can be life-threatening and usually requires emergency hospital treatment.
