    You guessed well, because it actually IS a scarab, all beetles in the family Scarabaeidae could be considered scarabs The main difference between your particular scarab and the traditional Egyptian Scarab is that your beetle is in the subfamily Dynastinae, while the Egyptian Scarab belongs to Scarabaeinae.
