555's have been around since the 1970's. They're great ic's with multiple uses. I used one years ago to make a custom turn signal circuit for a dune buggy built from a VW. Google 555 timer, you'll find lots of projects.

I would suggest that before anyone do this "DYI" they check with their local code enforcement. Some areas do not permit this type of DYI work. I for one get irrritated with it because I know I'm better QUALIFIED, than many CERTIFIED people doing the work.
First of all, you are not working on the bumper. You are working on the plastic facia panel that COVERS the bumper (usually welded to the unibody). That should be made clear to anyone doing this. And before doing this a check for structural damage to the bumper and other components underneath is in order.
So after following these instructions, then what? I uploaded the blink sketch, (modifying the pin #'s, and nothing happens except the blue led on my module that usually indicates serial traffic goes on permanently. This module was originally set up for nodeMcu.
