I understand your limitations. Once upon a time, there were people living on this planet. Sometimes, a group of people thought and found a wonderful tool. It was safe and very useful. But, there was a mean guy that wasn't agree with them. He thought for himself that he has freedom enough to mend his own tool and would not bother consider anything outside of himself, and that made him smile. However, He founded his reverse-engineering tool as the first stone of his own self-own self wall prison and try to spread it all over the world, as the best modest, not meant to do any arm idea. All of his "fellowers" would go take their old sh**s and turning them into worse, dangerous new ones, not focusing on any consequences but rather trying to be at peace with themselves, gently spreading more sh**s all over the world : Rather then be ashamed not being able to afford respecting themselves and consequently the others....
Ok, it looks nice... from the front. This isn't nice that you didn't find a solution for hiding your back groove. This can't be consider as finished until that problem solved. Consider a desk that people would have use for it on both side of the desk...not really nice, that groove with a wire. However, the wood work is nice. Wood should be extra dry. You might also add a bit of angle to the top part, in order to light more space and less the lamp itself, no ? 5 or 10 °. Né ?
Sorry, why a kid would likely fuse himself with a ugly 12 DCV unfinished lamp ?.. That makes no sense. My kids have self esteem. They would prefer jumping on real.
More specifically. Being a carpenter, If a boss present me a tool like that and ask me to work with that, I just hit him hard on the face and try hard to help him face the consequences of his deeds. Reality needs to be reminded, sometimes.
