Correct, this is called a thermosiphon.
I have seen other authors who fill the tubing with water, freeze it, and then shape it around a cylinder. The ice in the line allows the copper tubing to be flexible enough to shape but not so flexible that it kinks.
For anyone who is interested and can't get one of these bags secondhand, you can buy them for about $11 each from BAG Corp (http://www.bagcorpstore.com/Uncoated_c_18.html). We use them to dispose of old softener resin from power plants at work, and I've used them at home to build giant raised bed planters.
