If I had an official Alexa device, I definitely would've just done that, but I just decided to make my own. Despite that, I think having an "always listening" Teddy Ruxpin bear would make it even creepier :-)
you can upload the 3D file and order a print from shapeways.com
Feel free to use the one I link to in the instructions. It's on the google play store.
Just waiting for the right time ;-)
I'm totally looking forward to seeing it! Hopefully you can improve upon the mistakes I ran into.

Quality-wise, I agree that this project is lacking, but that is not due to the camera. It's more due to the fact that its remapping the pixels from a 1080p video. But considering the Raspberry Pi camera v2 has better specs than 80% of the smartphones (and probably even gopro clones) and 95% of the webcams on the market, I would far from discourage people using it as a cheap hobby camera. Obviously it won't compare to high-end cameras, but this isn't challenging the high-end market. To say it's useless would be like saying all cars that aren't Aston Martin's are useless. If all you want to do is cut steak, why not use the kitchen knife over the sword?
