The yarn you are attempting to use is far to big for this pattern, the needles recommended for your yarn are 35, the needles for this pattern are a 10. The Bernat Alpaca Natural blends yarn is in fact a worsted weight yarn, according to Ravelry. You'll need to select a different yarn to complete this project and save the mega bulky for your next project, the mega bulky is awesome. I love it, by the way.
