No, The Arduino Leonardo has two TIMERs which are being used constantly in the iboardbot. You can manufacture your own shield using the info available in the jjrobots GITHUB and set up your own server of course (OPEN SOURCE!): https://github.com/jjrobots/
Everything is available here: https://github.com/jjrobots/iBoardbot ;-)
It was a problem until we found the TheStaedtler Lumocolor Whiteboard Marker 351. You can leave it uncapped for several days without drying up. Here in, UK, it has been uncapped 2 weeks and still drawing

You can set up your own CLOUD service (Everything is OPEN), but trying to make things easier we have created our own, using a Google Cloud server (the magic of the iboardbot is to send anything to the whiteboard from anywhere and to use it as a twitter wall, or SMS text display, weather forecast... so it has to be connected to internet all the time). Send me a private message so I can tell you how to access to the iboardbot servers.
We have tested a lot of markers and we ran across an inexpensive and easily available worldwide marker that you can leave uncapped for several days without drying up: The Staedtler Lumocolor Whiteboard Marker 351
Thanks! We have not tested (or built) a full size whiteboard yet. Some changes will be needed (bigger motors and larger metal structure) in order to achieve a very large iboardbot mod. But we will publish something here if we design that big iBoardbot ;-)
Gocivici, This is a GREAT project. Thank you for publishing it
