(Not sure I asked this before) I need to cast lead, from a steel piece (3/4"X3/4"X4" long), which has a couple of "rings" (from the same material) around itself. Can I use silicon (please specify if special compound of it is required for lead's melting temp) to mold the original part and make the casting mold? Should I use mold rel;ease on the part and silicon sides of the mold? Thanks, john
I appreciate your will in teaching these things to us. My problem is different: I have to make a mold to cast lead from a piece I can not duplicate or make myself. It's a rectangular piece (1X1X4" long), that has two 'rings' around itself, made out of steel. Do I need to make a plastic or clay mold out of it?Thanks, john
