This project is awesome because of the fit and finish once you're past the wow factor of the hidden door. But as someone who doesn't weld and who doesn't have the first idea about how to spec out welding for other people, do you have any suggestions for how to get that part of the work done?
Thanks for the kind words. My guess is that you could draw up the steel bits and have a local fabricator ( every town has one ) make up the frame and pivot points. There is nothing sacred about the design of the ceiling and floor piece, other than they need be very secure. Print out some of the pictures, get your measurements together for your frame, and visit a couple of places to see what they can do for you.
Weissensteinburg, Thanks for sending, They actually did ask for permission, and it is credited if you scroll down to sources. I was amazed when searching for "hidden door bookshelf" how many other sites have embedded pics and links to this instructable. Nobody even noticed my Pergola posting ;) Just not Bond enough i guess.
