Looks great! I like the shape of the opening very much. Good job!
Thank you! I don't think 2 is enough support. You could add another vertical 2x6 to give you a center space. Alternatively you could also have the vent as a floor level registry by cutting a hole through the bottom 2x6 so that it exits where the floor trim is now. That way the duct would be on the floor also which would allow you to enclose it under a "false" floor out of the way. Good luck!

Ultimate Crosscut Sled With Dust Collection
Our fireplace is more for show as we rarely use it. That said it's not close to the chimney itself and I used an extension cord. Certainly not code. Ideally installing a wired outlet would be better.
Secret Drawer Lock
Interesting tip. Thank you. I will get a couple. I typically use spiral extractors but just too big for these little screws.
I think so. I'd probably give it a few more teeth.
You could but the hole would be bigger and show outside your hinge. A 1/4" plug cutter makes close to a 1/2" hole. Also my plug cutter has an odd outside diameter so would need to fit a dowel to plug it.
Thanks everyone! Glad you found this helpful.

Looking good! Almost there. Still love mine. Sure you will too.
Make a Massironi shelf
Thanks! I think you need it or need to add strength with a thicker top as you suggested. You could also make 2 smaller doors between the 3 2x4s as they are currently arranged.
Jim's Rising Chair
DIY Stacked Leather Handle Bowie Knife
I don't think that would work very well. I think it would hold a person, but over time would sag and probably not be that comfortable. I would drill holes in the sides or router slots. You could drill holes in alternating in two rows for example.

For the back of the chair, absolutely. I like the way they did the figure 8 pattern.

Hard to hide knots on the back. You could simply heat both ends and join them. I always feel like I need knots but I've never had one come apart that I remember. Melted paracord holds well.
Wow that looks great. Nicely done!

Thank you for sharing that. Fortunately old stain contains much less lead than paint and it is less common that it contains lead, but you don't know?
