    Shop Sign (CNC-cut and LED-backlit)

Great work on this! Very close to how you'd make a professional piece =P-- One point of note you may want to take into account is that you should add venting holes somewhere for airflow - LED's don't generate much heat, but it's always good practice and it'll make them last a lot longer if they have better passive cooling-- if it's in a shop that's not temperature controlled, or outside, you'll want to add drainage holes for condensation, which will otherwise swell and rot your MDF. -- if you want your colors brighter and more evenly toned, paint your interior "Bright White" or "High Reflective White" - This will help eliminate 'spotting' of LEDs, or the Lines of brightness you see in the pictures, which usually occurs in very shallow signs like these (typical LED...

-- if you want your colors brighter and more evenly toned, paint your interior "Bright White" or "High Reflective White" - This will help eliminate 'spotting' of LEDs, or the Lines of brightness you see in the pictures, which usually occurs in very shallow signs like these (typical LED distance {for back lit letters} should be 2" or more or you run into this issue, and more for narrow focus LEDs)Coat of paint on the interior might help with general life of the sign anyway, since cut MDF absorbs water like crazy, so you'll get a lot more swelling when it's humid.I'm a former signage professional, if you have any other questions or comments, I made/designed UL certified signs just like this one for several years =)
