The center contact under the hold button came off... solder won't hold to it... any chance you could find out or know where else that contact connects to? I had an 8gb 2g nano that died after i went down riding my bike... I bought a 1g 4gb nano knowing there'd be an empty spot i might be able to get my 8gb chip into... but while taking the case off I popped off the hold button and destroyed my 3rd ipod :)
