I made the first bot as a model but then went a bit farther and put two servos on the back wheel to improve steering. I added an Arduino board and two momentum ON/OFF/ON switches so I could steer the bot using a tank control format. The next steps are to add a wireless node and a joystick. My robotics students are enjoying this project. One put the Tetrix receiver on their bot and they were able to control their wheel bot remotely. I want to see if they can redesign the base and figure out how to mount the Arduino and battery packs which seem crowded on the flyswatter base. They can then 3D print their body designs and try them out.
