Car-Top Kayak Rack for Around Ten Bucks
Simple to make, works great I cut 6 for a S.T.E.M. Camp in a few minutes. I did sand all the edges so the boys would not get cut on any sharp edges. I took less than a minute to assemble. Great idea my older 16 yr old life scout loved the prototype.

I agree with the other comments here that proper bow and stern tie-downs are required. But I want to stress the point that UNLESS you know exactly what you're doing with ratchet straps its waaay too easy to over-tighten them and damage your kayak. That is why most(if not all) kayak/canoe carrier kits come with CAM straps instead of Ratchet straps. Cam straps are the kind with a metal buckle that uses pressure to keep the strap from slipping out, you can pull it through one way and it won't go back until you press the buckle. Use Cam straps to secure a canoe or kayak to a vehicle. they are plenty strong enough and will tighten down enough to hold snug but it's a lot harder to over-tighten them and damage your boat. But no matter what, please be safe and make sure your load is secured properly. No one wants a damaged boat or to cause injury and/or accidents
I made it! Great Instructable!I live in a "regional" area of Australia, I wanted to try a kazoo to accompany my wife on her ukulele. 30km's to a music shop selling cheap kazoos or make my own. No contest! Tees I got had dot stops, not an internal shoulder, so I cut and inserted a ring of pvc to create a shoulder. Inserted a rubber "O" ring on top of that shoulder, inserted "membrane", then small PVC length, (sanded as per motleyjust's comment). Hummed into it, frequency range is lower than my voice, up to higher than my voice! Better range than a bought one! AND MUCH LOUDER! An afternoon of fun produced noises from a duck quack to a mosquito whine! So impressed I will add a guitar pickup to make it into an electric kazoo, and later, a pitch to midi converter and create some imaginative sounds. Oh! the hole in the short length of tube, (holding membrane in place), is to stick a rod in to assist in twisting the tube out when replacing the membrane!Thank you Author!
USE PARACHUTE CORD FOR FORE AND AFT TIE DOWNS. ALSO USE A RATCHETING TIE DOWN OVER THE TOP AND THRU THE WINDOWS. I USE A 7 BUCK MOVERS BLANKET FROM HARBOUR FREIGHT TO PROTECT THE CAR TOP.
