About:I was a rather haphazard knitter, something I enjoyed, but had difficulty fitting into a very hectic schedule raising 5 kids. 9 years ago I had a massive stroke, and lost a lot of memory, knowledge, and skills, knitting among them. I took up plastic canvas and really love it, but I really missed knowing how to knit. It was one of the things that I said I could do, found a pattern I liked and when I sat down to knit, I couldn't even remember how to cast on! Help came in the form of a wonderful new daughter-in-law who is an incredible Knitter and Crocheter. She gave me encouragement, knitting accessories, and books for gift ocasions and advice when I asked for it. One day i was following the directions for casting on and making a mess of it...then suddenly it clicked and I could do it and could knit again, not perfectly, mind you, but the fingers remembered. I didn't get very far until I picked up a pair of speed stix and suddenly I was off and running! I'm still not fantastic, and have had to relearn a bunch, but I now knit a lot. My main thing to knit so farhave been scarves and lap warmers, but I'm presently working working on a poncho.
