This is my lantern in place with an LED lamp in one of my hallways. The felt is really acrylic fiber rather than wool felt. It took only two afternoons to finish. Thank you, Vincent, for the ideas.
Here is my semi finished lantern in sized felt with a drawing of a layout on a single sheet. I glued up all the panels since the sheet is too small to make folded strips. hot melt glue works very well. This lantern shape fits over a glass globe lamp in my hallway, I may just fasten it there. I would like to try white inside and color on the back of the strips. I had to play around to cut the slots to hold the squares together.
Hi, I have used sized felt, which is stiff like paper, but more permanent from craft stores, I use hot melt glue for these. I would like to try your project with felt. I have seen lanterns like this in restaurants, very nice design.
