What a great video and a wonderful final tool. Watching it, though, I wonder if you'd do anything differently in the future. The one step I wasn't sure of is why you cut the handle in half before you shaped it completely. Wouldn't you save yourself some work by leaving it as one piece? I'd think you might save yourself some trouble by doing most of the sizing and shaping, and then dividing it down the middle. Otherwise, a great session... Thanks for the inspiring lesson!
Sounds like a great process to remove rust and oxidation. One nice way I keep my tools in good shape is to rub them occasionally with Butcher's Wax. It is a great way to protect BOTH metal and wood. So your old screwdrivers and saws with wooden handles will love you for it!
