  • Awesome Rustic Cooler From Broken Refrigerator and Pallets

before everyone gets started on this project there are some precautions that must be observed. First, 2 1/2' holes will not let enough air into the cabinet to keep a child alive, especially on a hot day. If the child is inside and the cooler is tipped the door could be impossible for even a child outside the cooler to open. Use a positive locking method and save a life. Another item to know. Refrigerant removal and recycling can only be done legally be someone who has the proper certification. Then you have to take the recycled refrigerant to a location that will accept it, such as a refrigeration supply center. unless you are able to meet these requirements don't mess around with refrigerant. As stated the fine if your are discovered, can be enormous.

    Build Your Own Storage Shed!

A thing you might want to check is if regulations require a minimum setback from the property line. This is often overlooked and come back to bite you. A silly thing I found out when I built my shed, my jurisdiction in California treats buildings differently depending on what they are called on the permit. I called my shed a barn because I built a gambrel roof and it looked like a barn. My surprise....A barn must be 50 feet away from any structures occupied by humans. A shed can be almost against the house.....same size, same shape,,,just different names.

    DIY $5.00 Sandblaster

I have used cruched corn cob in my tumblers and it works well just not fast. I also got a small barrel of silicone beads that the food industry used to use to thicken gravy and sauces. its works really great. Its drawback is it is tiny orbs and when they fall on a hard surface it becomes slippery as ice...

in most cases if you need a fine blasting media, I would recommend soda. You can get baking soda in small packs or buy from HF their large bag...

BTW is the correct abreviation for By the way.

crushed corn cobs work well also if you are trying to polish the object.

At around 180 Deg.F. you are not melting the HDPE, just softening it. I have never noticed any fumes at this low temperature.

    Unusual Uses Ziploc Bags

you can get them at pharmacies and hobby shops. Try hobby lobby.

when i was in vietnam(pre ziplock days) we used to buy iced coffee on the streets and they served it in baggies. you just nipped a corner off and lifted it up to drink it.

I have tried doing that and the bags melt if they are on the sealer too long.

    How to Solder Copper Pipe

to my knowledge, copper does not braze. Brass or iron will braze

As i mentioned in my reply above, the gas you are using is NOT MAPP gas. the product you are refering to is MAP gas and you are right it is onoly a bit hotter than propane, While MAPP was almost a thousand deg F. hotter.

for your information, there is no longer a product called MAPP gas it has been discontinued and will not be revived. The product in the yellow bottle is MAP gas. It is only a couple of hundred deg F hotter than propane. for 3/4 inch or larger pipe acetylene gas with air will provide enought heat. Also Mak said no further deburring is needed after cutting with a tubing cutter. This is not true. a ridge if formed by cutting this way at the cut line. It must be removed if you don't want the possibility of the pipe eventually filling with sediment or other solids. Just hoping to inform about these things. I have been doing this for over 50 years and most of the instructable is spot on.

if you have aq connection turning green, the flux you used is for leaded solder. lead free flux looks nasty but does not green.

Then I think you should reassess what was wrong. No gasoline fueled car has the ability to ignite the fuel in the cylinder unless the battery or the alternator is working. A diesel car can ignite the fuel and I have done it on a completely dead diesel tractor by rolling it down a hill but gasoline fueled?..no way

  • Water Valve Light Switch for a Pipe Lamp

Actuall it does matter which wire you use. The lamp is designed so the the outside of the lamp socket is connected to Neutral, This in turn can cause the lamp to be electrically hot if wired wrong. if the switch breaks the neutral you can get a shock if the switch is turned off. A side note.....the type of valve used is called a globe valve. They were never my favorite type of valve when plumbing, but are ideal due to design for this project.....

Depending on where you are in the US you can find yourself in a heap of trouble having this. I know in Sacramento, California the police department have stated that this and the potato gun are both prohibited. An adult making one and giving it to a minor may face felony endangerment charges also. Check the laws pertaining to it.

Turning a Trashed Mobile Home into a Shop

to respond to your question Marc. I doubt it would be cheaper to start from scratch. Another advantage to this plan is that in most jurisdictions the structure is not considered a building as long as the axles remain on the carcass. That way you dont have a tax increase, permits , inspections or other government bother.

There are a couple of things I would like to interject, take them for what they are worth. GFCI's are rated to protect up to 6 receptacles. I have found in a shop that many tools have a bit of leakage that combined will trip the gcfi, but none have enough leakage to be hazardous. therefore I suggest no more than 3 receptacles in a string. One more point. Since you are sitting on a metal frame the frame should be connecte to the grounding circuit. This protects equipment that might accidently get contact with the frameexpecially if you are working outside, Otherwise great job. Now question......Please explain how you got the long trailer around the corners on the road? My brother-in-law did a move like this and used his boom truck to haul it. At the corners he had to go past the corner a bit. unhook, take the turn with truck alone, hook the winch line to the trailer tongue and pull the thing around that way. It worked but took him all day to go only a few miles.

Regardless of your aqssessment of risk, the outlet for this must be protected by gfci, its specifically noted in the NEC and in local codes. Remember that a ground is not to protect persons, it is a protective device for equipment. A human can only withstand a small amount of current passing through the heart before the results are fatal. The current leaking through a small crack in the insulation of the wire can easily be enough to cause a disastrous event.
