Hey, loved your instructable, I want to know one thing. Is it possible to detect the waves underground using some sort of coil wired to my mic jack? (instead of a earphone) If so, can you give me a rough description on how to make this coil? Also, just so I totally understand, you simply charge a 3300uF 25v cap up, and use the mcu to control a mosfet 8000 times per second to let all that stored electricity through a coil to generate an identical signal to the wire underground? I want to simplify your design a bit. Will my idea work: just use a mosfet to let the electricity flow directly from a battery to a coil and back into the battery (of course at the 8khz frequency emulating the data byte)? Can ham radios broadcast at 8khz? ohhh imagine the possibilities
