Using a t-shirt instead of a sweatshirt works as well. Fabric paint works on all kinds of fabrics, so there's no problem :)
Hey, there! So I did something rather typical of me, which is to forget to apply the instructions on the label, so I haven't "heat set" it. But I've washed it at least twice, and the paint hasn't faded or washed off, so I consider myself lucky! If you want to "heat set" the paint (which I recommend you do, to be safe), I guess you have to pull the sweater inside-out; however, I noticed a symbol on the fabric care tag, which means that the item shouldn't be ironed...Speaking of which, I've been ironing my shirt like normal :P and there's nothing wrong! If anything, don't have the heat be too high, and you should be fine.
