There should be absolutely no connection between live or neutral to ground, even through a capacitor unless it is specifically class Y rated and a very low value. An ioniser will find its ground reference through the mains supply. In this design the entire side connected between neutral and ground will be pointless. There is a reason the traditional ioniser design just had the multiplier between live and neutral.

Hello to Kiteman and ibrewer42. I am 16, and still in school. This works to increase mileage on a car because it uses the alternator. This is important because, aside from charging the battery, and powering the interior/accessories, it wastes the electrical power available. The alternator in every car i have ever looked inside of (at least a dozen) has had the alternator on the serpentine belt. This means that it is always spinning, always putting the same load on the engine. Hence, with an alternator that produces more energy than gets used, you are wasting energy. This generator uses this wasted energy! This is scary - two science teachers that do not completely understand a science topic, yet are picking apart each others language, all the while being somewhat rude. This is against the be nice policy, and i would appreciate this not happening again in the future.

I have built a few trackers over the last few years, using a slightly different design and a curved rod for greater tracking accuracy. I like this article, the camera mount in particular is very ingenious. You can get a lot of parts for a tracker from this guy - google bencooper.karoo barn door tracker. He uses the design first published by Gary Seronik.

Made it but added a few extra things, uv led and spiral coil going to to the pins, and pvc with screw on caps to protect it when it's stored or moved.
