Sounds awesome! I like the idea of the hinged control board. I've been adding magnetic catches on the control boards for new ones that I've been building. Pardon the crude mockup, but here is an example of that. It makes pulling the control board a lot easier for servicing. Hinges would complete that thought, so I might go that route in the future. My new ones have been 24" wide as well, and the extra room for two people is great. Can't wait to see your final build!
How to Build a MYSTIC From THE DARK CRYSTAL
Here is the link to the marquee: https://www.dropbox.com/s/grmtc99wj5bu22k/zeldaCabinet_marquee_20x5_PRINT.eps?dl=0I would pocket from the bottom for the joysticks so it looks cleaner. As for the 5/8 channels in the side panels for the monitor/control board/back, I think that's a great idea! Would be a lot cleaner and less work than attaching all the wood blocks.Let me know if you have any other questions, and throw some pics of your build in the comments when your done! :)
Based on your specific materials, and whatever bells and whistles you wanted to run with, it would vary. It could be done very cheaply if sourced properly!

That looks fantastic! Nice work!
Thanks! That is a grille for a 3" speaker that is attached under it.
Per your dimensions in your direct message, here are the marquee, control board, and screen bezel graphics at 24" wide. (with a 0.25" bleed on all sides)I took the middle out of the screen bezel so you can cut your own out based on your monitor's actual size.Let me know if this doesn't work for you!Screen Bezel:https://www.dropbox.com/s/elx6ufqttztwc09/zeldaCabinet_screenBezel_24x18-75.jpg?dl=0Marquee:https://www.dropbox.com/s/ki9jxdijebqsr2h/zeldaCabinet_marquee_24x5_PRINT.jpg?dl=0Control Board:https://www.dropbox.com/s/jptxf7021sc684m/zeldaCabinet_controlBoard_24x10-5.jpg?dl=0
Yeah, that works! I ran 3mm fiber optic lines from the leds on the battery pack through the front of the box, then put hand-blown marbles in front of them to diffuse the light.
Not hard. I mean, you could just run a full screen video playlist on the Pi for the evening instead of the MM platform.
A lot of this is already developed. I didn't want to put a camera and mic into the mirror for security reasons, but the modules are out there. Here's one for Alexa control: https://github.com/joanaz/MMM-MirrorMirrorOnTheWal...A few for voice control: https://github.com/fewieden/MMM-voicehttps://github.com/alexyak/voicecontrolhttps://github.com/dr4ke616/MMM-Voice-ControlFacial recognition: https://github.com/paviro/MMM-Facial-RecognitionReally, the sky is the limit as far as development, as it's basically just a web server. :)
Muchas gracias! Fue divertido crear.
I bought this set off of Amazon: http://a.co/3WF8CgN
Love it. How about a tiny steam pipe coming out of the side that puffs steam when an email is received?
That's a great idea! The fan covers on the sides would be easy to flip out. I'd just need to find large enough gears that matched the other bronze ones.
I have my decals and plexiglass backings printed at a shop in Kansas City called Signs By Tomorrow. Any sign shop that does vinyl decals should be able to tackle it. I've also seen suggestions for vehicle wrap shops, so that might be another good avenue to check out.
I got the gauge face and switch plate from this Etsy seller: https://www.etsy.com/shop/VintageWireI found the gears on Amazon. This is the set I used: http://a.co/ay43m8F
She loved it! The bar is set a little high for future birthdays and Christmas, though...
Thanks! I just added it. :)
I appreciate it! Thanks for the kudos!
Definitely! Something like the mirrors from the Ghostbusters movie would be cool. Or I saw a video a while back that was a portrait of a Victorian woman that "came to life" as a ghost randomly.

Hi! Thanks for the interest! I have made a few on commission and am open to take another one on. These are custom built to whatever design you want to see and take about 3 months. They are $1,500 each with a $500 deposit down to secure the build. I live around Kansas City, MO, so if local pickup isn't an option then freight shipping would be added to the price.I attached images of some other ones that I have built for your reference.Let me know if you're still interested and we can talk more about it!- Robbie
Whoops! Here is the link to the marquee:https://www.dropbox.com/s/grmtc99wj5bu22k/zeldaCabinet_marquee_20x5_PRINT.eps?dl=0
Here are new templates! I left the marquee and monitor bezel out because those are just rectangles and you will need to measure the monitor hole and marquee spacing based on your build anyway. The side template is only one side but you can flip the canvas to mock up the other side.I put the control board in here with properly sized button and joystick elements. I hope these help!Cabinet Side (24x36) - https://www.dropbox.com/s/uikmejxd4iopz63/cabinetS...Control Board (10.25x20) - https://www.dropbox.com/s/e5ocn6jhz6hhers/controlB...
