what are the measurements for arms and body ? please
Make a Back Yard Pergola
I took the papercraft template into illustrator (or photoshop if you don't have that) and the I just scaled the paper template until the body was the correct height. Then you just take the ruler tool and measure the width/height off the paper template for the rest of the dimensions. Check to make sure it fits the person who will be wearing the costume. You might need to just tweak it on the fly.
I took the papercraft template into illustrator (or photoshop if you don't have that) and the I just scaled the paper template. Keep in mind that the costume is telescoping, so you might just wanna figure out the depth of the body (i.e. my daughter is 40" from shoulder to floor so I went with 8" depth and made sure it fit her body with room to move) and then just made 2 units for the body that is 20" and 16" tall. I eyeballed this plan and figured the legs are attached at about 1/3" of the way, so I measured from the bottom of the feet to the top of the body. I also made sure there was at least 3" overlap between the telescoping body parts at the max height (40"). Then you just take the ruler tool and measure the width/height off the paper template for the rest of the dimensions. Check to make sure it fits the person who will be wearing the costume. You might need to just tweak it on the fly. You want to make sure the width of the costume (shoulder to shoulder) is appropriate and then that's the size of the head. Really, don't stress too much, eyeball/estimate, have fun making it and your kid will love it!

Make a Cardboard Dragon Boat!
Did you get any help on this? I find myself having the same question.
I used your instructions to make my son's Halloween Costume! Thank you so much. We don't have a color printer, so I painted everything by hand. And he insisted on being "Steve with Diamond Armor" so that is what he got!
Thanks! I thoroughly enjoyed reading your pirate ship Instructable. You've got a lot of great Instructables; I'll look forward to checking you your new posts.
I don't have them any more. Just search Google for "Minecraft Steve papercraft" and use the advanced features to search for large size images... this will give you the highest resolution.
awesome! thanks for posting. This is a great feature... the original costume isn't very practical!
I'm confused on how and where to add dimensions to this costume. Did you use the Papercraft website? Or is there a Photoshop trick I should know? I measured 48" from shoulders to floor, could you tell me where I should add this to get the measurements for the rest of the costume? I'm sorry if I'm missing something that you already included in there! This is so cute and I want to make sure I get it right. Thank you so much! :)
We used your tutorial as a guideline when making this minecraft pig costume! He absolutely loves it. In the end we decided to paint it instead of using printouts. It's awesome! Thanks so much for sharing all of your hard work!!!
I would take it to a print shop like staples and they can print the panels.

Do you have the PDF skins like the Minecraft Steve costume? - heyytawnyy
We made a door on the front, that clasps with velcro on the top and bottom.By doing this from one box, you lose some of the integrity of the box, so you are best to make the front door out of a separate flat piece of cardboard, and leave a strip of the front portion of both the front right and left corner joints intact, and just put the front piece on with some simple sturdy hinges. - MattyBoJangles
Hi i am in the same position for making this costume for my son. I am worried about sitting and going to the bathroom while wearing it at school he is 6 how did you alter it to work for school? - Bnoble62084
We are excitedly using this tutorial to make a minecraft pig!! We have the basic structure completed and now need to add the color. I will post a photo once it's completed. Thanks so much!
Thank you for this informative and really great design! Wonderful details and how to info. I have been wanting to build one of these for a long time but was never sure of how, or in particular how to calculate the square footage needed for a good size. I'm looking forward to trying to do this next summer!
This is one of the best Instructables I've read. You've got a great chance to win this Clay contest. In upstate NY where we live, it is common to find a light gray clay. You've inspired me to try and render it into workable clay. Thanks for taking the time to put this together.
