Sorry if this is a stupid question, but do you literally just copy and paste that code into the Arduino program?(I've never done any circuit projects, or pretty much anything like this before. I didn't even know what an Arduino was before finding this Instructable, so any tips would be helpful :) thanks!)
And I guess in an additional question, where might I alter it so that the relay opens after only 3 seconds instead of 10?
I have no clue how to do anything like this, but does anyone have suggestions to how I could do this with a regular plug-in treadmill? I'm hoping to hook it to a projector instead of a TV though. Thoughts???
Thanks for your help! I got it to work
Where does the RCA cable come out from the relay? If the cable from the Pi goes into the relay, shouldn't the RCA cable come out of the relay and then to the TV?
Instead of the wire going straight from your Pi to the TV, it would go through the relay, which would open and close the connection. If the arduino doesn't see the detection, it will tell the relay to open, which will make the video going into your TV go darkHope this helps!

Hey plays in traffic! Great Idea. I am actually working on a variation of this myself. I just need some clarification on the RCA cable step.I am currently trying to hook up my Raspberry Pi to this. I am using a 3.5 mm (4 pole) plug to RCA cable to connect it to the TV instead of an HDMI. Should I strip this wire or a separate RCA cable? Is there an output for the relay? Thanks for the help

If I strip this wire and insert into the relay, how will the relay be connected to the TV?And what does it mean to have the "relay hooked up inline to an RCA cable going from a video source to the TV"? Thanks
