  • How to Make a Professional Printed Circuit Board: the Complete Guide

I found that sodium metasilicate (brewers detergent) works well as a developer, it's not as dangerous or corrosive as the caustic soda mentioned above. I use about 50gms to a litre of water and this will develop a board in a couple of minutes. To remove the photoresist after etching, methylated spirit (denatured alcohol) works well and is cheaper and easier to obtain than acetone.

I did enlarge the original template a tiny bit as I did edit it to include the circle cutout and some trimming guides.

I didn't build the cabinet as I already had a wooden rack on castors. I modified the rack with extra shelves to accommodate the drawers. I should be able to fit 168 drawers in the double-sided rack with 84 on each side. It's no great looker but it does the job.

Great idea. I'm tidying up my electronics parts storage and looking at the price of commercial ones I decided to make my own. I modified the template to use A4 sized material and added a finger grip cutout to get a better grip as my drawers front sat flush with the front of the shelves that I had made.I had a stack of A4 200gsm card left over from another job but after making a test box with one sheet, I felt that the box wasn't sturdy enough so I spray glued two sheets together. This made for quite a tough little box. Each box takes a few minutes to make which is ideal when you have a bit of time with nothing to do. I can knock up two or three at a time before I get bored with it and do something else. I've attached A4 Drawer Template.pdf below, Don't know if I can do that as I've neve...

    >GomibakouAs someone else noted, when soldering the temperature isn't high enough to vaporise the lead in the solder so it can't be a problem as far as breathing in the fumes. As Portlandgirl pointed out what you're breathing is burnt flux which is pretty well harmless in the doses one normally gets.Any lead poisoning one would receive would more likely be absorption through the skin from handling the solder and as far as I aware that's never been a problem.Like most industries there have been many toxic chemicals used in the past in electronics and when it became apparent that they were dangerous they were withdrawn. Carbon tetrachloride, Xylene and Barium based heat sink compound are some that come to mind.I'm not sure what welding has to do with this.

Exactly. I've been soldering professional and consumer electronics for nearly 60 years most of it with leaded solder with no protection or serious effects unless you would consider a bit of arthritis to be caused by lead/flux poisoning. It's only recently I knocked up a little fan out of a 5" computer fan to remove the fumes as they were effecting my old eyes.

3 years later.I think I can see what happened here, +70 degrees F is +21 degrees Celsius.-70 Fahrenheit is in fact -57 Celsius, easy mistake to make.

You are right, having a USB connector supplying 12 volts is a disaster waiting to happen.

You said "...actually comes from the physical similarity of this Led Bulb to corn on the cob."That's what I assumed when I bought one a few years ago.

You can also remove the photo-resist with methylated spirit (Denatured alcohol) or Isopropyl alcohol..
