I decided to make a smaller version. I made the body with a 30cm ball and the head with a 18cm ball. Because of that i have no ecperience how much fibreglass/polyester and putty you need for the normal version. The process is the same with the car putty... You can cut off the ball with a metal saw.
One picture from tuesday... I´ll post more when i'am back home
One picture without car putty from tuesday...
Yes i`ll post pictures tonight. I´m not at home ;)
i bought a set of fibreglass and polyester resin at the local supplier... The polyester resin has two components ... if you mix them you have 10 minutes to use it. So i needed 3 times to complete one layer on the ball. So first i made a layer of papier-mâché and than 1 layer of 300mg/m2 fibreglass..After 30minutes its hard and ready to work with. So i added a third and fourth layer both of 160mg/m2 fibreglass... After that i waited a night to let it dry. Then i used car putty to fill the litte gaps and so on...
hi,i used fibreglass for BB8s body and my suggestion is to use car putty/filler instead of wood putty... Its easier to work with it and later its more robust... I used this one:http://www.amazon.de/NIGRIN-74957-Profi-Spachtel-5...Regards,quiggycn
