About:Me llamo Osvaldo Julio Schiavoni I speak Spanish, not English. I use automatic translators for writing my instructables. I am retired since 01/01/10; 010110=x'22 (el loco! (the crazy))
The edge is harder than the rest of the knife. I harden the whole knife and then soften the spine & the tang using a torch. The edge stays harder. So it holds a good edge. Only needing to be honed, not sharpened. Under normal use you may need to sharpen it once or twice a year. Great for cutting steak!
I look forward to making a Schiavona, a famous sword, to hang it in my living room. But it would be a great challenge for me, very difficult. My surname is Schiavoni, I could brag "it belonged to my great great grandfather at Venice!".
Thanks, Kate. I have simple ideas because can't have more elaborate ideas. It is a fact, nor good neither bad. Or may be I would say it is good and bad simultaneously.
