your floor will not be HORRIBLY scractched! you will have to replace it after the beetle rolls over it! The motor with no gear box does not have a lot of torque, if you put wheels, they need to very small less then half a inch and smaller. Glue stick cut to legth, eraser, etc. The heat shrink on the shaft of the motor will not scratch your floor. Put more layers of hearshrink. Have fun!

ok so wen i press the switches they turn the motor in reverse. otherwise, motor not on. the third connection forms a T or a + with the paperclip in between the motors. im not great at soldering, but nothing is wrong with the joints. no switch until it works.

and the (-) to the NO of the SPDT

I think you did that. Take you multimeter and measure on the NC and NO of one switch, You should measure 3V. Right now, that is why it does not work.

BATTERY
{red to NC} = not working
{BLAK to NO} = not working

bad problem with the alligator clip
That T connection, seem not connected? Solder it!!

Everything seem nice, the problem is an BAD connection.

i soldered the battery leads and the battery T, but still no forward,just reverse. multimeter measures 1.41v i think its the switches, no bad joints anywhere

If its not the battery, could there be a problem with the SPDT switches? there are no bad solder joints, i checked them twice after school today. ill solder the red and black wires and see wat happens.
