Since my machines are not all on the same circuit, I decided to use a Stanley remote switch. It consists of a remote transmitter and a receiver which will switch up to 11A. I use the receiver to actuate the coil in a 15A DPDT relay. I wire the relay contacts in parallel to increase the current capacity and this relay switches a dedicated outlet for the shop vacuum. Then I hang the transmitter from the ceiling of the shop so i can take a step or two to turn on the vac.
