Hey AleemA1 I'd love to check out your new light. Where might I see a picture or video? TT
Hey man. Your project inspired me to make my own. Check out my inscrutable. I just made a vdeo for simplicity.
Your local guy will be buying from the same places as the Chinese seller, only his buying power is made by buying in bulk or if Chinese, via an old family friend or school friends or wherever he has people he knows in factories that make this stuff. So if you don't know what you are doing, buy local, get advice and be assured. If you know what you are doing, know what to buy and can wait up to a month then save yourself a load of $$$'s and buy international.
BenjaminS87, Sounds like an interesting project. As you, I don't have a lot of experience in this huge field of electronics. Google is the answer my friend. Wish I could be more help. Hopefully someone smarter than you & I see your post here & can offer you assistance. TT
Im working on a solar briefcase for my bug out bag, im doing 20watt bp solar panels, was wondering if i will need a different type of charge controller for a array of 18650 batteries instead of SLA? Also curious as to how many batteries i should get, parallel or series, i was an electrician for a year so i have a little experience, but when it comes to DC power and batteries i am clueless

Hi AleemA1. I see why you're having difficulty identifying the part. I somehow merged a few part names/numbers together. I'm pretty sure I now have the parts labelled correctly but it seems Deal Extreme no longer carries the exact same part that I purchased & used in this project. The part description is MR16 1 x 1w 320-350mA CC regulated 8 - 30v. I'm sure you'll be able to locate something similar. I've been using this light for almost a year now & have come to appreciate it's smaller form & powerful beam. Post your developing &/or finished project here if you would pls, I hope yours gives you as much satisfaction & usefullness as mine has me! TT
Hi AleemA1, I see you;ve ordered the 1w led beads without the aluminum heatshields. They get really hot. You'll note I not only used the heatshield but also used thermal adhesive to attach a 2nd pc of aluminum to dissipate more heat.I can't read the entire description of the mr16 drivers you've ordered but from what I see they are meant to drive 3 pcs 1w & not 1 pc 1w. Think it'll work? TT
I would love to see the charge curve as I'm worried perhaps the charge current drip is not steady. I have noticed from some power sources and it will mess up the cell over time.
