Hey ! I progressed in this project : got the structure, attached the two cd stepper motor assembly to the casing but now I got a problem : I can't see how I can attach the plate (aka heating bed) to the "cart" (the part that is moving back and forth with the laser diode) of the cd/dvd reader : it's only got one hole that is wide enough for the least size of a screw and one hole is not enough or else the plate pivots around that screw. Can't make a hole in the cart because It's really thick (would take really too long, even to make a M4 hole in the dvd structure (that was 0.8mm thick), it took like 15 minutes) and I think that would destroy the cart with the vibrations. So how did you mount the plate to the cart with only one hole in it? I thought about putting a woodpiece with some really strong glue to the cart. What do you think ? Thanks in advance.
Thanks and may I ask how did you remove what was on the carriage and the brushless motor ? Tried to find a screwdriver for it but these screws are just so tiny...
It did! I found 4 cd drive and I'll be making the normal set up with only cd drivers, but having a bigger build volume is good :)Thanks a lot for your fast answer !
Hey, I just started this project and salvaged one motor assembly from a DVD reader. Can you tell me if it's a good one ? It has 4-wires but it seems different and no numbers on it :
And could you document (make a tutorial like this one) how you used a salvaged scanner motor to make the z-axis ? Was it a stepper from the start or you replaced the motor, if you have some time ? Thanks in advance :)
Hey I just wanted to know what was the printing volume of this. From what Ive seen, cd drive/floppy drive linear stepper motor maximum range is about 7 cm, so did you get a 7cmx7cmx7cm printing volume ?How would you make it larger ?Thanks in advance !
Hey! What's the max printing volume you can get with this printer using dvd stepper motors ? And what if you use scanner driver for all axis ? Thx in advance :)
