Where do I begin? I was born in Burbank California, moved breifly in 7th grade to Florida where I fell in love with water and all things in it. Back in ca I got my first fishtank and became heavily invested in cichlids, port cichlids if you can believe it. In Highschool I kept more cichlids and an archer fish. Loved that archer fish, til it died. I also had my first Salt water tank, which didn't do so well. While in college, I had no fish, I was too busy studying. When I moved to Davis for graduate school, I took my tanks with me and kept angel fish, guppies and Baddis Baddis. I tried breeding them with white worms, but to no avail. Didn't have another tank til I moved to Florida in 1987. Kept local fish from Florida ditches, carolina sunfish, pickeral, pipefish, whatever else I could find. When I moved to New York, I bought a 29 gallon tank and filled it with angel fish and tetras, and tried my hand at plants. I've been fighting with plants for the last 15 years and have yet to master them. At work, I keep 4 tanks, one reef tank (which has been very successful), an african tank (55 gallon), a 20 gallon with 3 africans and a small tank full of medaka which I breed with my students. My plan to teach in order to keep up my fish hobby worked like a charm.
