Can I charge and use 18650's simultaneously or better charged first, block from solar, then use with the power inverter? LuisE47 Hi all, I have been into DIY Solar / Wind for a while. Everything been working great until I planned to replace my lead acid batteries for the 3.6V LG HG2 3000mAh 18650's. With the lead acid I could power my house anytime during day (using solar panels) or night off-grid with ease. So, I bought a l...

How can a rocket using liquid hydrogen and oxygen force a rocket upwards? StarTrekC If hydrogen and oxygen are burned together they produce water.  You need a lot of hydrogen and oxygen to make a very small amount of water. If when burning those two gases together produces water, which takes up much less space, how can it possibly propel a rocket into space. You need expanding gase...

Solar panel: Shattered glass - epoxy or replace the glass? RincewindT Hello, I see many projects/videos about making solar panels or repairing shattered glass on solar panel with things like epoxy. But I have found nothing about chaging the glass of the solar panel. The cost of epoxy  for a repair seems quite high (30$+?) and maybe not always suited long term. Assum...

Inverter question? tgferreira184 I have recently made a pond in my garden and to avoid spending lots of money in electricity, I decided that I would power it with a solar panel. My pump is 220v 34w, so I thought that a 40 or 50w solar panel should work. However, i can't find any 40-50w inverter, only about 150w. So, my question is,...

Why do I need a blocking diode on the output end of a solar panel? javajunkie1976 In some of the instructables dealing with solar panels, the instructions call for a 1N314 blocking diode. Is this really necessary? What happens if you don't put one in? Does the solar panel glow or something? Would a LED be just as useful? Where could I scavenge one if I had to use such a diode?
