50w LED on 54vdc? Answered

Good day I have a couple of led chips of various wattage, and as I understand it is thirty something volt chips, And i have a BIG 54v 2,5A power supply, and no 30v regulator, when I trim the pot it gives me 44v Will this be too strong for my led chips? Ty~ ia Des

LEDs need a constant CURRENT, not a constant voltage. The question really is what current do these LEDs really need.

The voltage on the led is that which they will drop, on nominal current. In this case, it sounds like they will take their nominal current at 30V roughly. 44 V will destroy them.
