Can't reorder steps and pictures and can't move text boxes

Hello! Ever since the instructables went down a few days ago, I can't use any of the drag features. I can't reorder steps or pictures, and I can't move the little text box captions for photos. I've tried in several different browers, and I've deleted website data, cookies, and other stuff like that. Is this a website problem or something I can fix? Thanks

Help me wire CNC (stepper motor controller+driver)? Answered

Hello I just bought some stuff to begin building my 3axis(at first) CNC milling machine. I can'r figure out thw wiring/ connecting between the stepper driver and controller? It's connected to the computer with a DB25 connector ("plug") and the terminals are named: P1,P2,P3,P4,P5,....P15. Is there a way to know what is what? (please take a look at pictures) BTW. it's for running/controlling 3pcs. Nema23 stepper motors and I got a bigger driver to run a Nema34 stepper (supposed to be the spindle) hope you can help me, I'm in no rush, but it could be nice to see the motors running and such so I can make that work while I'm designing/redesigning/build the actual machine...

Program or script to change volume...? Answered

Another question that is way out of my league (woe is me).  I need (or rather want) a program, in either Java or VBs (if there's a better one like Python or something, that would be alright too) to change the volume of a Windows computer.  It would also be a good showcase of your skills to make it able to change the volume of a specific program or application.  The way I intend to use it is as if it were a function, rather than a program. So a different script will activate it (perhaps by writing it, which in Java I don't think is possible) and then set the volume and the program to change the volume of. If that can't be achieved, could it be made to read a text file (or something else) with two lines on it; the first the program, the second the volume. If the first line says something like none, It would change the volume of the whole computer. Hopefully I've given you a good enough description to make it clear exactly what to do. Thank you in advance.

Farewell my robot army

Dear Everyone (and you know who you are), The time we've spent together has been unforgettable and I think you're really swell, but I'm afraid it's time for me to move on now.  You've always been there for me, supporting my every effort, from cheeseburger salads and microwave cakes to turning Care Bears into a coat.  I love you for that. While in your tender, sometimes tempestuous, embrace, I've grown and blossomed from a green intern to the editor of your food and living channels, and you've rewarded me with your support, comments, and continuous inspiration.  But now it is time for me to spread my wings and move on to new territories.  I will always appreciate everything you've done for me.  I will still be here, lurking in the forums, popping up in your recent feed, featuring your awesome projects, and occasionally feeding you a new recipe of epically unhealthy proportions or gratuitously kitten-themed craft project.  So this is cheerio, but not goodbye. I hold all of you in my heart, and I am not going far.  You will find me just across the internet at Betabrand.com, turning a new group of people's ridiculous concepts into ridiculously popular products and trends, just as we always have here. So be prepared for a stream of disco-fabric and other related Instructables as I transition into my new role managing the Thinktank division and test out new product ideas.  I promise not to stop making cupcakes, or putting bacon where it doesn't belong.  Be well, do good, and keep making awesome projects. All the best, Sarah

Does anyone know where to find a replacement part for an antique platform rocker?

I have an antique platform rocker that I need a replacement part for.  It is a cast iron arm at each end of a wood spindle.  Looking up online I found it may be called the "Lowentraut mechanism" and was designed in the late 1800's.  The rocker I have is in good shape but only has one of these cast iron arms and I am trying to find a way to get a 2nd one to complete the rocker and refinish it.  I am attaching a photo of the one arm that is on the rocker.  Any information on how to find a replacment part would be appreciated.

Question regarding colour

Hi everyone! So here is another confusion in my mind.  I know that colours are a result of electromagnetic radiation in the visible spectrum interacting with our eyes.  The visible spectrum consists of 7 colours, abbreviated VIBGYOR. Now my question is, what are primary colours and secondary colours? And how come mixing of two colours produce an entirely different  colour? I expected that all 7 of them would be primary. But that is not the case.  Also, for illustrating the real world scenario from which this doubt crawled into my mind, consider that i have two pieces of translucent films, one blue, and other yellow. Now initially i place the blue film in-front of a white bulb, then it filters all other colours other than blue. Now place a yellow in-front of the blue, and there, you have green. What is the working principle behind this? How come the "blue" light turned "green" after passing through the yellow film?

My First Semester Drawings

Hello!            Every school semester there is some downtime when I just draw cars. I don't have my normal critics this year because I am at college now so I figured I would see what the instructable community thinks of my cars. If you like aerodynamics and fast looking cars you should like my style. Also as you can tell I made up a car company to put all my cars under called Veloci. If I do have that car company in the future that's what it would be called. Anyway more to the point let me know what you like or don't like about any of these and I will try making a better batch this semester! Thanks! How to fix error in title of my instructable?

I recently submitted my first instructable, "Easy But Addicting Garlic & Butter Snack Mix".  Before publishing it I spell-checked it twice and made good and sure that there were no typos or mispellings.  It has now been published, and there is a GREAT BIG TYPO in the title!!!  It appears this way: "Easy But Addicting Garlic & Butter Snack M&hellip".  This is not how it was submitted, and when I click on the entry the title appears just fine; it is only in the main page of Snack Food Contest entries that it appears wrong.  I have submitted 2 emails to the instructables team but keep getting automated responses that are of no help.  I can't seem to fix the problem in "edit" from my account, as it appears to be fine when I view it that way.  How did this happen, and how do I get it corrected?  Help!!

"See All" button for be at the top of the mobile site as it is for your general site

It would be great to not have to scroll to the bottom of a page on a mobile device to then click the "see all" link and then scroll down through all the items again.  I also frequently find myself accidentally clicking on an image while trying to scroll, and when I hit the back button it takes me to the top of the page, requiring more scrolling and searching to find my previous location --- maybe it should open images in new tabs... Circuit Design Questions - Voltage Drop Answered

Hi there, I'm working on a circuit which will include a 3v, .7Amp motor and three 20mA LED chips, with a maximum forward voltage of 3.8v. The whole circuit is intended to run off a 6v battery. In calculating resistance for voltage drop, I've figured out that resistance for the motor is 2.1 Ohms and then (by Ohm's Law Resistance = Voltage / Current) the resistance of each LED chip is 190 Ohms. Is this correct? It seems astronomically high.?

Multi-port USB power supply

My wife and I charge our tablets and phones in a central location.  There are so many wall warts and not enough outlets!  I would like to have a single USB type of power supply that can charge at least 6 devices at the same time.  Each port should be able to supply 5 volts DC at 1 amp or better.  I've purchased two different 4 port wall warts and they just don't have the juice to get the job done.  Any ideas?

Why are car windshields laminated? Answered

Side and rear windows are tempered so that they shatter into relatively harmless chunks on impact. But windshields are laminated, so that even though they shatter, all of the pieces are kept in place. Why is this? It seems that if a laminated windshield shatters/spiderwebs and remains in place, it would completely obscure the driver's vision while he is trying to control the car. Additionally, if someone is thrown from the car, through the windshield, they would be cut by the glass shards that are stuck to the laminate. So why are windshields laminated, or more importantly, why aren't all windows in a car made of the same type of glass?

Need help with stepper motor controlling

Hi guys, I'm trying to build a contraption based on 6 stepper motors, wich I need to control via a Raspberry PI. Since I'm no good with electronics and my friends who might help are unavailable this period, I thought I'd ask around here for some advice/help. I know I need drivers/controllers for the motors, but each kind of motor requires a different kind of driver (based on power consumption, on electronic specs etc.) The motors I'm planning to use are: 42BYGHW811 and 28bygh102 / 35BYG103 (choice made based on needed power at smallest possible dimensions), and micro-stepping is something I could really use, because I need as fine a rotation as possible. So, the questions are: 1. can you point me to the right drivers, to buy? or give me some pointers as to what parameters to look for in a driver for these motors? 2. if not, can you design and build one driver capable of controlling all 6 motors, or separate drivers, and able to also achieve micro-stepping, at a decent price? I'm planning to make this project of mine available as a kit for sale, in the future, once we see it working - so bringing aboard a guy who really knows this kind of stuff is something I'm also considering (as of right now, we're 2 guys involved: I'm the designer and the other guy is the mechanical builder - we still need the electronics guy and perhaps the programmer) Any ideas/feedback are more than welcome! Thank you, Eros

Wood Stove feeding radiators

Hi, I'm hear again with a completely different question. Again, any help is greatly appreciated :) I installed a wood stove last year, and I'd like to install a coil to heat water and circulate it through my existing radiator loop. I was wondering if I could do it as in the image, I would install a new pump to circulate the water. I have a combination boiler, but I'm sure that doesn't really matter. The green circles in the diagram are to illustrate taps, that way I can close off the boiler when I have the stove on and vice versa.

I need help with an electrical schematic

I'm working on a project where you press a normally open button that lights an amber light (represents Master), this button then lights other buttons that are lit green (represents Slave). The accompanying schematic should be fairly clear and also repeats this question. What I want to have happen is when you press one Master, the corresponding Slaves light. Release it and the board goes dark. Then if you press one of the other buttons in the Slave category, it becomes the new Master and lights up other corresponding buttons. I'm sorry if it's confusing. The project is a flow chart of sub-subsystems that when completed link to a larger tab, then that tab links to another set of subsystems finally culminating to a final result.

I need some help finding the best way to make a lightweight heater. Lots more info in details! Answered

So for one of my classes we work with a random company to solve some sort of problem that they have.  It’s an engineering class so the problems are all solved with physical things that we have to design; I just thought I should be clear that we weren’t solving financial problems or anything like that.  Anyways, my project has to do with keeping water in a tray (48mm x 60mm) at a certain temperature for a period of a couple of hours.  The water needs to be held constant at any temperature between 20 and 40 degrees Celsius.  My first thought was to use NiChrome wire to heat it but I don’t know how well that would work at lower temperatures so then I thought to use etched pcb as a heater but I’m not sure if I could get enough resistance from so little space.  The other restriction I’m facing is that you must be able to see clear through the center of the tray and whatever I’m using to heat it (lets just say a hole 1cm x 2cm must be left in the center) which reduces the resistance I could get from pcb even further given there is less area to run traces.  The heating apparatus must be as light as possible and I feel like electronic heating is my best bet since it is the easiest to control.  If you have any suggestions or think that my ideas are dumb or anything just let me know.  I’m happy to get any input here.  THANKS!
