K'NEX Magazine Comparisons - 5.56 NATO, STANAG Magazine

On thing that makes any K'NEX gun replica more accurate is the magazine. Trust me, if your magazine is to big or to small, it will make the whole gun look bad. As this is the case, I decided to "clear up" the small argument about the size of 5.56 NATO magazines, as some people are incorrect on the size of K'NEX magazine that they use. As you see in the pictures below, TD's magazine (yellow connecter - white rod - yellow connecter) is more accurate than the other type (white connecter - green rod - white connecter). The latter version (white connecter - green rod - white connecter) is quite a few centimeters too long, and is more accurate for some 7.62x51 replica K'NEX guns. The last pic is of my Dad's Bushmaster Carbon 15. -The Red Book of Westmarch

Can't find a library or manual for my rfid reader?

So I recently got one of these http://www.sainsmart.com/sainsmart-serial-uart-13-56mhz-rfid-reader-writer-module-kits-for-arduino.html  and it mentions I should download the manual for insturction on the commands, but I can't find the manual or any libraries for the life of me! So i was wondering if the good people of instructables might be able to help me out on locating this manual/library so that i can pop it into my arduino projects :P

Questions about K'nex gun features. Answered

Hey, I'm Stale56 (as most of you may know), and I'm building a K'nex gun right now. I have several questions about some features on K'nex guns. 1. What type of barrel will get further range, a TDS style barrel (where it is layered), or the type on Foresthell12's K'nex pistol V2 (snowflake with grey/red rods connected)? 2. Is a firing pin that comes out of the barrel better than one that doesn't stick out of the end of it? WHAT I MEAN: Let's say a gun with a tube barrel has a body that is the length of a red rod, and a firing pin that is a black rod. When the pin is not cocked back, and not ready to fire, the firing pin is sticking out the front end of the barrel. Think of all those "Smallest True Trigger" guns. They have a small firing pin that is a white rod, blue rod, etc. Now imagine if you made the firing pin a yellow rod. You can imagine that the firing pin will stick out of the front end of the barrel. And that is what I mean in my question. 3. Does firing pin size matter that much? EXAMPLE: If you have a yellow rod firing pin that isn't pulled back that far, and a black rod that is pulled back the same distance as the red rod, which will have better range? I'm assuming the black, but I might be wrong. 4. What is the best type of bullet lock? 5. I know that black rods are stronger than grey, but if you have a grey rod for the firing pin, and replace it with a black one, will it go further? If so, will it be alot further, or only 2 inches further Thats it for now, I may add some more questions later. Thank you for you time.

So, I am so comfortable right now. I'm drinking Mountain Dew and listening to Breaking Benjamin at 9:57 in the morning. It's very relaxing. What makes you feel awesome? It can be a mix of 2 things or just one thing.

When should my sister switch to baritone saxophone?

My sister started playing saxophone, and she wants to switch to bari sax. The problem is, she's way too small. She can barely play my tenor! She really wants to play it, but she'll have to wait until she's slightly taller and better at sax. When could she play the bari and what should she know before playing it?

How to send information between 2 HC-05? Answered

I need to send a number from 1 Arduino to another using 2 HC-05. I have followed the AT setup and connection in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hyME1osgr7s. I have successfully connected 2 HC-05 module but I can't get the master to send a relatively large number to the slave. I uploaded my code and result--serial command is the slave's (Basically I want the slave to receive the number and print onto serial screen, but it doesn't happen) Another question is if I want to send 3 integers in a row (Like 23, 34, 56) and let the other receive as 3 different integers (int1=23, int2=34, int3 = 56), how do I do that? Btw, how do I suppose to upload the files to Arduino properly? When I have the TX->RX0; RX->TX1 (Bluetooth pin to Arduino pin), I can't upload the file. I have to disconnect and upload, then it seems to upload but doesn't work properly. Thanks in advance.

Heat conduction containment between windows and curtains

How do I contain the heat rising between curtains and windows in east and south facing windows? (on the cheap, please) It will spread across the ceiling and blast into the room...ugh...? I just installed new thermal draperies that go from floor to above window but there is that gap at the top...and no room for a valance type box... The east windows span 124" x 69"--5 Anderson type windows. The left and right ends of the windows (5 panes) are the ones that open. The south wall is 124" by 56"--two panes, both crank open. Any good easy practical suggestions?

FLICKERROR

1.- my images where uploaded a 56 times because I kept pressing the image (stupid me) but anyways..... I have to delete one - by one!!!!! Are you kidding me. Cant I select all and then just erase them . Or erase a folder or something in my library... update: (Note: Use Ctrl-/Cmd- and Shift-select for multiple files) ...I just saw it after trying it again. I didnt want to delete it because It might help some other frustated robot2. The second Bug I am reporting is: MY FLICKER IMAGES LOSE THEIR NAME WHEN I ADD THEM TO MY LIBRARY (I put it in caps so a developer from flicker can fix this.) Cant I use the name they already had? Might as well Upload one by one. Its gonna take me the same time than to change all their name.

How can I colour White Gloss paint?

I am about to start painting tyres for a school gardening project! I've researched Diy sites that tell me it's best to use Gloss paint as it lasts for two year before needing repainting. The problem I have is I have lots of white paint donated from parents but I don't what just white. I've been to a DIY store and they have informed me that Dulux now add acrylic to their gloss paint to colour it? Has anyone tried to colour Gloss paint themselves and what sort of acrylic paint did you use? Obviously I am trying to keep costs down as we have 56 small tyres to paint. Please if anyone has any experience in doing this please contact me or have other methods. I've considered Food colour? Thank you

Does having submitted a project make you a more worthy user than one that is only here for the articles? Answered

I've lurked here for about 2 years and have recently been called out in the forums for having not submitted any projects. While I realize my use is one sided, does that mean that because I haven't really done anything I felt as worthy of posting, that when discussing the future of instructables that my opinions should be weighed less, or held to a lower standard than someone who has posted 56 projects ranging from home butchery and their love of potted meats (spam) in a 7 step 34 word project to topics as useful as How to get a vasectomy? While this may sound harsh I am simply trying to relay the facts, because I honestly want to know how the instructables.com makers really feel about this. I apologize to those that are offended by the tone of this question.

Broken backlight on laptop screen - Project ideas anyone?

I'm opening up to this lovely community since your creativity never fails to amaze me. I've had a laptop that has been sitting in my closet for about a year (Its a Thinkpad T43 i believe) which was in fair shape until one day it would no longer function, hence the closet bit. I got a little curious when I was digging through clothes and found it again, and played around on it and noticed if you held a light directly on it you could just barely see the screen, so I managed to reinstall windows, hook it up through S-video to my TV, and voila. But I dont use it that much, so I wanted to do some kind of project with it. I've seen the DIY projectors made form overheads, which would seem like a logical choice since it'd be easy enough with a working screen that has no backlight, but the thing is I already own a projector capable of 720p/1080i so I'm skipping this one.I've seen people do multi touch with screens before (ie things like http://multitouch.fieryferret.com/2008/04/finished-table.html) . but I'd want to do something larger. Then there's things like https://www.instructables.com/id/Back-projection-56-inch-multitouch-television./which are cool, but i dont have the need for something large in that format. I'd like to do something like a large coffee table with multitouch (like Surface) but I'm not sure how possible that is to do. Here's a rough sketchup of the basic idea (very basic, very rough. I'm at work wiht only access to MSPaint, and should be doing work anyway :) but with the 56 inch they have that mirror setup and I dont think you could do that with something that low to the ground (like a coffee table), correct?i'd love to hear your thoughts on that, but also.. what do you guys think? Got any good ideas for laptop with just the backlight blown? I dont really need a fileserver, and I have another laptop, so if you guys have any wild ideas out there.. I'm game.Cheers,Ian

AC motor power supply

I have an old Dayton electric motor I pulled out of a lab blower. (I have no idea how old it is, I pulled it out of my grandpa's bottomless basement.) It looks like it still works, but I found it with no wires or anything attached to the terminals. (All of the internal connections look good, however.) So, here's the tricky bit, how do I run power to it? I copied everything off of the label on the motor, and I'll post it on the end. I've got very near to 0$ in the project bank, so the cheapest I can possibly do this the better. I don't need anything nearly as sophisticated as speed control, or anything like that. Here's the info from the label: model: 5K261 HP: 1/3 RPM: 1725 V:`115 A: 5.4 Hz: 60 Time Rating: Cont. Temp. Rise: 48C PH: 1 Frame: 56 Brgs: Sleeve Code: H S.F: 1.35 S.F.A: 6.0 Amb: 40C No.: S60CXCDY-4065 Insul: Class: A Thermally Protected: AUTO I'm not quite sure what I'm going to do with it yet, that depends largely on how well it works.

Annoying GPU problems

While playing games and namely online games on my computer my GPU seems to crash at random times but always during actions. While playing World of Warcraft during some boss fights and in a handful of areas where the colors consist of mainly whites blues and dark grays they screen will distort all colors, freeze, and then eventually just turn black and not come back on until I restart the computer. Motherboard: Asus P7P55D EVO Processor: Intel i7 860 (Quad) Memory: 8.00GB GPU: EVGA GeForce GTS 250 PSU: 1000W Windows 7 64bit I checked the GPU and CPU temps and they are running at normal levels GPU stays around 40-42 without load and gets to 54-56 under load and CPU is 50 idle and 62-64 under the max load i could put it under which was only about 40% or so. I'm just trying to see what could be causing it to crash at such inconvenient times. I have updated the drivers and searched the Nvidia and EVGA websites for any other people having similar problems with no luck.?

How many LEDs i can connect to 240v AC supply using resistance?

Hello everyone, I just want to figure out how many 5mm super bright blue LEDs of  VF 3V , IF 25mA  i can connect directly to our 240v AC supply in series, only using a resistance in between. I google some circuits what i got :- 1) Android App named "ElectroDroid" can calculate Resistance for my 240v ac for 76 or 77 or 78 or 79 LEDs in series as 480 or 360 or 240 or 120 ohms respectively. I attached the screenshot with this question.. 2) A link http://led.linear1.org/led.wiz can calculate also but highest amount of supply voltage can be used 170V  and number of LEDs i can use is 56 in series with 82 ohm resistance in it. so i think option 1 can be more useful because i dont want to use extra thing ( transformer i think ) in my LED string to step down voltage in series. OR if anyone can simply tell me how many of LEDs 5mm blue VF 3 IF 25mA  i can use in a series directly to 240V AC supply with less complicated circuit

Wiring stripboard tracks to common ground

I'm planning a stripboard POV kit to solder with learners over about 3 hours or so, and I have a problem designing the wiring for the LEDs. It's straightforward to use the required series resistors to wire the output pins of an ATMEGA like http://www.arduino.cc/en/Hacking/PinMapping to the anodes of 8 5mmx2mm rectangular leds like http://www.rapidonline.com/Electronic-Components/Kingbright-L-383IDT-5x2-5mm-H-i-Red-LED-Rectangular-56-0398 packed side by side onto 0.1 inch stripboard. However, I'm facing a puzzle when trying to wire the LEDs' cathodes together to ground. It's fairly easy for me myself to do this, just by free-soldering a couple of spare legs directly over the cathode tracks, or chaining loads of wires. However, I can't see myself guiding 45 people through this in a workshop without hassle and errors. Does anyone have a simple way to wire 8 'odd' stripboard tracks together to a ground track (the 'even' tracks have the anodes in them). To give a flavour of the solutions I'm considering, I'm looking into 0Ohm bussed resistor networks like http://www.interfacebus.com/resistor-network-schematic-bused-resistors-sip.html to wire theparallel tracks into a single ground track using a standard through-hole component with legs clipped off. However I'm having trouble sourcing anything like this, and I'm sure others have better ideas.

Javascript bugs in FF and IE

I'm experiencing multiple bugs in Instructables, most JavaScript related. FF 11.0, have these same problems with FF10.2?. Instructables on safe list @ NoScript 1. Images look ok in instructables, switching between them in steps do not work at all. I click on the second image. It should replace the first one in the same container, nothing happens. 2. Can not vote. The stars are simply not there anymore. 3. There are 4 fingers white gap above, and 3 fingers white gap below the instructable title / photo-step row FF Javascript error console shows no errors. Things like Favoring/Unfavoring, commenting works fine. IE 8.0.6 1. Same problem as previous #1, yet clicking on the second image opens the image thumbnail directly in a new window. 2. IE displays "Errors on page" with this text: "Webpage error details User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 5.1; Trident/4.0; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.0.4506.2152; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 1.1.4322) Timestamp: Wed, 14 Mar 2012 13:18:56 UTC Message: 'f[...]' is null or not an object Line: 25 Char: 358 Code: 0 URI: https://www.instructables.com/static/js/gw-11.6.4/lib/gw.min.js I bet some script near the bottom of scripts is killing the rest of scripts, this is why some scripts work and some don't. Can provide more info if needed.

I have a PCB BOARD set up for 150x 5mm IR LED's would Fifty 1/2w 56 ohm resister work?

Infrared spotlight project. I have a PCB BOARD set up for 150x 5mm IR LED 1.5-1.6 forward voltage. Forward current is 60 mA 150 LED’s are divided into 50 groups (3 LEDs each + 1 resistor) What ohm resistors are needed for the 50 groups of three LEDs each? I was thinking of using x2 18350 Ultrafire 3.7v x2= 7.4 volts. Suggestions on more or less voltage using increments of 3.7. Using the online resistor led calculator. For 150 LEDs grouped 3 LEDs + 1 resister The answer given was x50 1/2w 56ohm resister needed. Being a broke novice I don't want to order and wait for fifty wrong resisters. Do you think this is a safe bet? To better understand my confusion please refer to item #251216249922 on eBay or look up pcb board for 150 x led 3mm or 5mm. The third photo completed tells a lot. Thanks again for the help!

Yeah, about my miter saw...

I know lots of people want me to post my miter saw, and I said I would. But I decided that I'm not going to post. It uses a lot of pieces, and only 3-4 people would be able to build it anyway. Sorry if your disappointed, but I did take pictures of it while I was taking it apart, so you'll be able to see the insides. I also included a parts list below if you're curious about how many pieces it used. :-)    Rods: 996 green-249 white-123 blue-347 yellow-96 red-34 gray-9 rigid tan-1 rigid black-1 flexi-rod (yellow rod length)-12 flexi-rod (gray rod length)-68 orange-56 Connectors: 804 dark gray-15 light gray-34 red-232 green-33 yellow-171 orange-59 white-74 blue-81 purple-179 Panels: 29 triangle mini-12 triangle small-16 square small-1 Other: 205 chain link-33 blue spacer-31 silver spacer-66 tan clip-18 metallic blue clip-15 black Y clip-5 red gear-8 small blue gear-2 orange splicer-12 battery-powered motor-1 tire-6 black snap cap-3 rubber band-3 fishing line-2 strands Total: 2,034 Here's some pictures of the saw's deconstruction and pieces.

500W electric scooter control and instrumentation with Arduino mega

1. Introduction DC 500W motor control with an Arduino mega to limit starting current and to vary the speed of the scooter. The battery is in 24V, 10A.h. The following table summarizes their characteristics: https://i58.servimg.com/u/f58/17/56/35/17/a014.jpg https://i58.servimg.com/u/f58/17/56/35/17/a111.jpg 2. Book «I realize my electric vehicle» at DUNOD 3. Open loop program To test the programming, we simulate the program in ISIS, as can be seen in the following figure. In addition, we have an LCD display to display data (duty cycle corresponding to the PWM at 32Khz, motor current, motor voltage, action on the pushbuttons, 4 push buttons are used. BP1 to manually increment the duty cycle, BP2 decrement it. BP3 set the duty cycle to 0, corresponding to the brake contact. The speed of the motor is practically proportional to the duty cycle https://i58.servimg.com/u/f58/17/56/35/17/a211.jpg We made our own current amplifier called a step-down chopper but it is possible to buy a shield There are many cards for Arduino to control DC motors especially of low powers and also of great powers as can be observed on the following links.http://www.robotpower.com/products/MegaMotoPlus_info.html http://www.robotshop.com/en/dc-motor-driver-2-15a.html https://www.pololu.com/file/0J51/vnh3sp30.pdf https://i58.servimg.com/u/f58/17/56/35/17/a310.jpg But all these chopper shields measure the current internally but there is no current limitation. In order to have a current limitation, an analog current loop is required using specialized AOP or IC or a fast digital current loop. But what should be the value of the limitation current? The choice of the current value is normally for the 1-hour operation service in order to be able to carry out relatively long climbs without reaching the critical temperature of the engine. In our case, the limitation current must be Limiting motor = Power / Upper battery = 500W / 24V = 20A In addition, the power transistor of the chopper can only support 50A in our case. But in open loop, it has no current regulation, so as not to exceed the maximum current, a ramp of the duty cycle will be used. A 0.1 second interruption routine will be used to measure the voltage of the current (sample measurement, sample). This sampling time is arbitrary but does not allow to be faster than the rise time of the current because the electric time constant of the motor is L / R = 1.5 ms. Open loop operation with a 25.5s (8bit) ramp and 0.1s interrupt routine provides a good understanding of the operation of a DC motor drive. The display will only be done every 0.2s to have a stability of the digits on the screen. In addition, a digital filtering will be done on the current and the voltage on 4 values therefore on 0.4s. [b] Algo open loop [/b] Interrupt Routine All 0.1S Read voltage and current Loop loop (push button scan) If BP1 = 1 then increment PWM If BP2 = 1 then decrement PWM If BP3 = 1 then PWM = 0 Displaying variables every 0.2s Code: [Select] // include the library code: #include #include #include #define SERIAL_PORT_LOG_ENABLE 1 #define Led     13       // 13 for the yellow led on the map #define BP1     30       // 30 BP1 #define BP2     31       // 31 BP2           #define BP3     32       // 32 BP3 #define LEDV    33       // 33 led #define LEDJ    34       // 34 led #define LEDR    35       // 35 led #define relay   36       // 36 relay #define PWM10    10      //11   timer2    LiquidCrystal lcd(27, 28, 25, 24, 23, 22); // RS=12, Enable=11, D4=5, D5=4, D6= 3, D7=2, BPpoussoir=26 // Configuring variables unsigned   int UmoteurF = 0;  // variable to store the value coming from the sensor unsigned   int Umoteur = 0; unsigned   int Umoteur2 = 0; unsigned   int Umoteur3 = 0; unsigned   int Umoteur4 = 0; unsigned   int ImoteurF = 0;  unsigned   int Imoteur = 0; unsigned   int Imoteur2 = 0; unsigned   int Imoteur3 = 0; unsigned   int Imoteur4 = 0;            byte Rcy=0 ;    // 8bit duty cycle unsigned    int temps; // the setup function runs once when you press reset or power the board void setup() {   pinMode(Led, OUTPUT);   // Arduino card   pinMode(LEDV, OUTPUT);   pinMode(LEDR, OUTPUT);   pinMode(LEDJ, OUTPUT);   pinMode (PWM10,OUTPUT);     // Pin (10) output timer2   //  digitalWrite(LEDV,LOW);   Timer1.initialize(100000);         // initialize timer1, and set a 0,1 second period =>  100 000   Timer1.attachInterrupt(callback);  // attaches callback() as a timer overflow interrupt   lcd.begin(20, 4);    Serial1.begin(9600);   TCCR2B = (TCCR2B & 0b11111000) | 0x01;         //pin 10  32khz    http://playground.arduino.cc/Main/TimerPWMCheatsheet                                                   //http://www.pobot.org/Modifier-la-frequence-d-un-PWM.html   //   analogWriteResolution(bits)      https://www.arduino.cc/en/Reference/AnalogWriteResolution lcd.setCursor(0,1); lcd.print("Rcy"); lcd.setCursor(10,1); lcd.print("Um"); lcd.setCursor(5,1); lcd.print("Im"); lcd.setCursor(10,1); lcd.print("Um"); lcd.setCursor(20,1); // 4 lines display * 20 characters lcd.print("BP1+"); lcd.setCursor(25,1); lcd.print("BP2-"); lcd.setCursor(29,1); lcd.print("BP3=0"); } // Interruptions  tous les 0.1s void callback()  { temps++; //toogle state ledv for check   if ( digitalRead(LEDV)== 1 ) {digitalWrite(LEDV,LOW);}     else {digitalWrite(LEDV,HIGH);}     analogWrite(PWM10,Rcy);   // frequency Umoteur=analogRead(A0); Imoteur=analogRead(A1); Imoteur2=Imoteur; Imoteur3=Imoteur2; Imoteur4=Imoteur3; ImoteurF=(Imoteur4+Imoteur3+Imoteur2+Imoteur)/4 ; Umoteur2=Umoteur; Umoteur3=Umoteur2; Umoteur4=Umoteur3; UmoteurF=(Umoteur4+Umoteur3+Umoteur2+Umoteur)/4 ;   }// End routine // Loop corresponding to main function void loop() {    // BP + LED   if ((digitalRead(BP1))==1) {     lcd.setCursor(20,0);      // Column line     lcd.print("BP1");     digitalWrite(LEDR, LOW);        digitalWrite(LEDJ, LOW);     Rcy++;                        // PWM incrementation     if ( Rcy>254)  {Rcy=254;}     delay(100);               //8bits * 100ms = 25S increment 25ssecond slope     }        if ((digitalRead(BP2))==1) {     lcd.setCursor(20,0);     lcd.print("BP2");             Rcy--;      if ( Rcy         delay(100);      digitalWrite(LEDR, HIGH);     digitalWrite(LEDJ, HIGH);     }   if ((digitalRead(BP3))==1) {     lcd.setCursor(20,0);     lcd.print("BP3");      Rcy=2;               // PWM almost at 0, engine stop     } if (temps>=2)  { lcd.setCursor(0,0); lcd.print("                "); // Erase line lcd.setCursor(0,0);     lcd.print(Rcy); lcd.setCursor(5,0); ImoteurF=(ImoteurF)/20;     //resistance (5/1024)*(10/0.25ohm) si ACS712 66mV/A                            // For resistance 1ohm (ImoteurF) / 20; Simulation 5/25 lcd.print(ImoteurF); lcd.setCursor(10,0); UmoteurF=UmoteurF*10/38;                              //10/38   10/30 simula if (Umoteur>ImoteurF){UmoteurF=UmoteurF-ImoteurF;  }  //U-R*I lcd.print(UmoteurF); temps=0; }// End if time    } // End loop https://i58.servimg.com/u/f58/17/56/35/17/dsc_0614.jpg Since there is a limit of 9000 characters in the forum below Open loop program feature previous The interrupt routine lasts only 250 microseconds, the loop of the main program which scans the action of push buttons is 13micros and the display time of all data is 11ms. Thus, it is possible to improve the sampling period and thus the speed of the regulation of the current. The Arduino makes it possible to make the instrumentation of the scooter so to know the power, the consumption in Ah and Wh, to measure the speed, to know the consumption according to Wh / km, to measure the temperature of the engine, Have a safe operation. But for now we will see how to limit the current 4. Closed loop program, limited current control The sampling period will increase to 0.01 seconds (interrupt routine) If the current is less than the desired value, then the duty cycle can be increased or decreased to the desired value which is the setpoint. On the other hand, if the motor current is greater than the limiting value, there is a rapid decrease in the duty cycle. So as not to exceed the value of the duty cycle if it is saturated to 254 maximum and to the minimum value 6. Code: [Select] if (Imoteur   {if (consigne>Rcy)   {Rcy=Rcy+1;}   // Pwm ramp + 1 * 0.01second pure integrator    if (consigne    if ( Rcy>254)  {Rcy=254;}           // Limitation of duty cycle    analogWrite(PWM10,Rcy);   // Frequency 32kHz timer2}         } if (Imoteur>4000)  { Rcy=Rcy-5;              // No current filtering, to be faster                     if ( Rcy                   analogWrite(PWM10,Rcy);   // Frequency 32kHz timer2}                        } 5. Closed Loop Program, Limited Current Control with Acceleration Handle An acceleration handle provides a 0.8V voltage when not operated and a 4.5V voltage when the handle is fully engaged. Instead of using pushbuttons to increase or decrease the speed setpoint, an acceleration handle will be used Code: [Select] Upoignee=analogRead(A3); // The relation in Upoign and the setpoint which corresponds to the duty cycle corresponds to if (Upoignee>100) { consigne=(Upoignee/2);     //0=a*200+b    et 255=a*800+b                      consigne= consigne-100;                   }                            else { consigne=0;   }               if (Upoignee    6. Temperature and safety program of the motor with the current measurement The outdoor temperature measurement can be easily performed by the LM35 component which charges 0.01V by degrees Celsius Code: [Select] temperature=analogRead(A2); //lm35 0.01V/°C temperature=temperature/2;       // Temperature coefficient lcd.setCursor(5,2); lcd.print("      "); lcd.setCursor(5,2); lcd.print(temperature);   // Display in ° C lcd.setCursor(9,2);      // Erasing secu display lcd.print("     ");   if (temperature>80 ) {lcd.setCursor(9,2);         // If motor external temperature is above 80 ° C                      lcd.print("secuT");                       Rcy=0;} In addition, thermal safety by measuring the motor current will be added. If the limitation current is greater than 10s then the motor will no longer be powered for 30s. A "secu" display will appear on the LCD display. This safety makes it possible to cut the motor on slope too high and when blocking the engine but it would be necessary to add the measurement of the speed in the latter case Code: [Select] if (timesecurite>=10000 ) {flagarret=1;      // If limitation current for a current of more than 10s                               timerepos=0;                               consigne=0;                               Rcy=0;                                 timesecurite=0;}       //   Then stop engine during a downtime    if (flagarret==1 ) {lcd.setCursor(9,2);         // If limiting current for a current of more than 20s                      lcd.print("secU");  }     //   Then stopping the motor for a stop time and display                                                     if (timerepos>=30000 &&  flagarret==1) {flagarret=0;                                           lcd.setCursor(9,2);      // After a rest time here of 30s                                            lcd.print("       ");   }   The display can be observed if the temperature is above 80 ° C https://i58.servimg.com/u/f58/17/56/35/17/a017.jpg Thermal safety by measuring the motor current (digital thermal relay) which allows to know the image of the internal temperature of the engine would be ideal. But for this, it is necessary to know well the thermal modeling of the motor. 7. Measurement of the energy capacity of the battery The energy capacity of a battery is in A.H, we will display the value in mA.H to have a high accuracy. The capacity will be in A.Second in the following equation. So to have in mA.H, it will be divided by capacity by3600. Capacity (A.s) n = I * Te + Cn-1 with Te = 0.01s and I multiplied by 10 So in the interrupt routine Code: [Select] capacity=ImoteurF+capacity ; And in the display Code: [Select] lcd.setCursor(0,3); // Display of energy capacity lcd.print("C mA.h="); capacity1=capacity/(18000);   //18000=3600*5  5=> Current measurement coefficient lcd.print(capacity1); To check a current of 10A with an adjustable resistor and after 30s, the capacity must be 83mA.H 8. Power and modeling with SIMULINK Modeling helps to understand the vehicle and its control. In addition, it is possible to compile the control part directly into the Arduino program from simulation under Simulink. But it will not be possible to simulate the instrumentation with the LCD display. In the following figure, we can observe the simulation of the programming of the chopper with the current limitation with Simulink. In the following figure, the green box shows the duty cycle control to vary the speed and the red border the current limitation. The controller of the control is here a simple integrator but it is possible to carry out a multitude of control. https://i58.servimg.com/u/f58/17/56/35/17/azub_c15.jpg In the previous figure, it can be observed that the current is well limited to 25A from 2s to 9.5s. Then, the current reaches 10.8A under established speed regime at 22.5km / h. The dynamics are similar to the tests carried out. With a slope of 5%, the cyclic ratio reaches only 100% as can be seen in the following figure. The speed will reach painfully 19km / h with a current of 24A and a motor power of 580W. See article: Study of electric scooters 100W and 500W (Arduino), 9. First conclusion It is easy to control a 500W DC motor with an Arduino and some components So repair many scooters that are in DC motors. But it takes some knowledge (automatic, engine) to know how to properly manage the engine and limit its current so as not to damage it The display of the speed, the distance, the operating time to know the Watt.km / km can also be realized with a menu 2. The .ino program as an attached file, But it is not possible to put an attached file in ISIS electronic labcenter? What is this forum? It would be desirable that the compiler could generate the.cof to debug in Isis and test the program line by line .... Arduino still has to make a lot of effort to be on the same level as other microcontrollers 10. speed measurement (tachometer) Velocity measurement is carried out using a hall effect sensor SS495 or A1324 which counts each revolution of the wheel. It is enough to enter the perimeter of the wheel of the scooter (130mm of radius therefore 0.816m in the case To have the speed, it is enough just to divide the number of turn of wheel on an arbitrary time of 1s to have a minimum speed of 0.81m / s therefore of 2.93 km / h. In addition, an average filter with 3 values will be used to display the speed. At 25km / h, there will be 8.5 laps. To count the turns, an external interrupt routine will be used on input INT0 21 of the mega card. http://www.locoduino.org/spip.php?article64 To simulate the speed, a pulse on input 21 will be used with a duty cycle of 10%. https://i58.servimg.com/u/f58/17/56/35/17/a018.jpg Code: [Select] void INT0b21() {   Tspeed++;   // External interruption to count the number of turns } // In the set up declare the interrupt routine when the 5V edge of the magnet detection is done   attachInterrupt(digitalPinToInterrupt(21), INT0b21, RISING );  // External interruption // In loop if (temps09>=5)  {        // 1 second loop lcd.setCursor(13,2);      // Erasing speed lcd.print("kph     "); lcd.setCursor(16,2); speed1=Tspeed*2937;      //1tour*816*3.6/1s=2.937km/h speed2=speed1;           //Tspeed (rate/seconde) speed3=speed2; speedF=(speed1+speed2+speed3)/3000;   // To put in kph lcd.print(speedF,1);    // Display to the nearest tenth Tspeed=0;   // Reset counter temps09=0;  //reset time } To improve the accuracy of the velocity measurement, it is possible that the sampling time of the velocity measurement is dependent on the velocity. For example: For speeds less than 10km / h sample at 1second, but above 10km / h sample at 2 seconds. 11. Distance measurement for autonomy The distance corresponds to the total number of turns of the wheel multiplied by the perimeter of the wheel. So do not set the number of turns to 0 for each sample. On the other hand, the reset of the distance will be done when pressing the reset of the Arduino Mega. The distance display will be displayed to the nearest second. At 32km / h, it will take 2 minutes to do 1km as can be seen in the following figure: https://i58.servimg.com/u/f58/17/56/35/17/a019.jpg Code: [Select] void INT0b21() {   Tspeed++;   // External interruption to count speed   nbrRate++; } lcd.setCursor(13,4);      lcd.print("km      ");  // distance=(nbrRate*816)/1000;  //distance m distance=distance/1000;  //distance km lcd.setCursor(15,4);      lcd.print(distance,1);  You can observe the electrical installation with the chopper, the arduino, and the display when the program is set up https://i58.servimg.com/u/f58/17/56/35/17/dsc_0613.jpg 12. Synthesis The RAM space is used only at 4% and ROM space at 3%, for an Arduino mega. So we could take an arduino a little smaller. But, there are 8 Lipo cells to make the 24V power supply to power the engine via the chopper. Therefore, the voltage measurement of each element will be on the Arduino with a JST connector. This measurement makes it possible to know if a cell with an internal resistance which begins to pose a problem and to know if the balancing of each cell has indeed been carried out. It is possible to switch to 36V with 12 cells also with the arduino mega without using an external shield that multiplex 24 analog inputs on input A0 It is possible to send all data to a smartphone via Bluetooth HC06 via pins 20, 21, RX1 and TX1. But the application under android realized under JAVA Studio can not be shared on this forum. This part will not be explained. After having made the instrumentation of this scooter, a study should be carried out on the precision of the measurements, it is possible to read "Instrumentation of a low-power electrical motor vehicle" eco marathon "type Revue 3EI N ° 81, July 2015 http://www.fichier-pdf.fr/2015/09/07/instrumentation-vehicule-faible-consommation-eco-marathon/

Number of contest wins

Hi, when people see the prizes I have won, they tend to ask me quite often, whether anybody else has won more often than me. While I knew, that wold630 has won more often than me I had no idea where I stood. So I sat down with my boyfriend to write a small script. Since you might be interested too, I decided to post the results here (starting from four and more, else there would be to many people). They might be off here and there by one contest (especially if a patch has not been handed out), but should be pretty accurate. Thanks to everybody who has voted for me and especially instructables, for hosting so many awesome contests. Total Views Tracker - 13/01/2011

Here's this week's tally! The group's now got over 150 members, 50 of which joined since mid December! I didn't get around to making the changes to the script I promised last week, I hope to add links to the list and automatic patch giving soon; I just haven't had time recently! This forum topic is a printout of the results of a Perl script I run weekly. To be included in it, join this  group. The Perl script visits the profile page of each member of the group and extracts their Total Views then saves them to a file that can be opened by me in Excel. I then post the last 3 columns so everyone can compare their weekly gain with their friends. Powering Multiple Servos From One Battery- What is my circuit missing?

Hey Everyone, I'm working on a robotics project right now and my limited DIYer knowledge of electrical circuits is failing me. I need to power 7 Rage Standard Metal Gear Servos (RGRS104-16-6vm) and 4 RadioShack Micro Servos using a Tenergy 6V 3300mAh NiMH Battery Pack. I've made a diagram of the circuit I'd like to make, but I feel like there's more to this type of circuit than I've planned for. There are only 9 servo connections because two pairs of Rage Servos will be wired together to share the same battery and signal connection. I'm also open to using a different battery if that's what it takes to make the robot run smoothly (It has to use a rechargeable battery though; It's meant to be portable.) Would you please point out what I need to add to my circuit to make sure it works properly? Thanks in advance! More Info: Rage Standard Metal Gear Servo RGRS104-16-6vm Dimensions: 40.8 × 20.1 × 38 mm Weight: 56 g Operating Speed: 0.18sec/60degree (4.8V), 0.16sec/60degree (6V) Stall Torque: 9kg.cm/125.2oz.in(4.8V), 10.2kg.cm/141.9oz.in(6V) Operating Voltage: 4.8V~6V Control System: Analog Direction: CCW Operating Angle: 180degree Required Pulse: 500us-2500us Bearing Type: 2BB Gear Type: Metal Motor Type: Carbon Connector Wire Length: 30 cm. Ch. 3 In Which Old Science Creates New Technologies

Hey Instructastorians! I know I haven’t been keeping my Instructables Intern Blog updated, so in advance I apologize for the lateness in this update. Things have really picked up since the last time I posted anything here! As some of you might remember back, a couple of weeks ago Instructables HQ, which where herein be referred to as Instructables Laboratories (Seriously, that’s what they call the building here!), held a massive social event involving Liquid Nitrogen and fast freeze Ice Cream. It was a rising success for everyone and more than 70 people visited our lab! The Ice Cream was fantastic to, due to our delicious confectionary staff particularly Angie, and our Maker Faire ticket raffle was awesome. As for the Faire itself, I unfortunately was not able to participate in the Instructables Booth, being more than slightly preoccupied with my own DIY PIXAR stand, but I heard it was great. They managed to give away almost all of the Lab’s business cards and even managed to sell several dozens of our Robot T-Shirts! Sure beats the hell out of being stuck in a dark room, with several hundreds of people jamming into your personal space, while Tesla Coils scream Classical Music at 56 decibels… BUT, last week after the Faire, things became sadly much more subtle. Several people around The Lab were still recuperating from the hectic events of the Faire and there wasn’t much to do around the office. Being recently promoted to the job of Delivery (meaning I get to control all outward shipment of prizes and gifts), my goal was focused on trying to ship out a lot of the past closed contest prizes from a couple of months past. Thankfully Instructables had a monthly event to obliterate this post MF doldrums- INSTRUCTABLES BUILD DAY! This is held on the last Friday of every month, where most work is momentarily cast aside and everyone instead works on their own personal Building projects! SWEET! So for my project, I ended up creating something really cool involving PVC pipe connectors, a Shop Vac and several feet of clear vinyl tubing ('ible coming soon).  I'm making a note here- HUGE SUCCESS! As for myself, even though I might’ve gotten used to waking up at 6:00 AM to commute 1.5 hours to San Francisco, I’m still completely thrilled to be working here. Always something new going on and never a dull day at the office Lab. OH and I finally got my own key! Now I can enter our labs without setting off the Turret Defenses! -New Intern 2011, SHIFT!

Total Views Count - 17/03/2011

Here's this week's total views count, and guess what! I remembered to run it all by myself, no prompting from the usual suspects this week :D A couple of people may be missing, I think Instructables was responding slowly at the time and I saw one or two time out :( I posted a different picture this week because I've used the same one by Caitlinsdad for the last 23 runs, no offence intended C'dad, it is a brilliant cartoon. Extra points to anyone who can tell everyone a little about the photo I took :) This forum topic is a printout of the results of a Perl script I run weekly. To be included in it, join this  group. The Perl script visits the profile page of each member of the group and extracts their Total Views then saves them to a file that can be opened by me in Excel. I then post the last 3 columns so everyone can compare their weekly gain with their friends.
