Hi guys I'm currenty working on a knex project and we both don't know how to send a picture in a pm so can you help me?
Posted by didexo 6 years ago
I think it would be really nice if You could send images to other people via PM. This would be useful if you want to show a project to one or 2 people, and dont want others to see until its posted. There has been many a time where a lot didnt get done for us because we couldnt PM images. Also, looking in the community blog forum, it would really many people.

When someone sends a PM with empty subject, the you:inbox page lists the message, but the item is not clickable. Actually, looking at the HTML code reveals that there is a link, but it is invisible because the tag is empty: (In the above example, the message can be accessed by prepending the base url to the href attribute: https://www.instructables.com/you/inbox?view=X7N77DIGKTJO4PO) Suggested fix: when the subject is empty, emit something like: (No subject)

I have a PM stuck in my inbox, registering as unread. The message has been sent to me with no subject, so the clicky link is missing in the inbox, so I can't click it to read it..... Surely there shoule be a default "No subject" text that appears ? I can delete it, but I don't know what it says ! Steve

Hi All! I am working on Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor design. I need assistance on how to determine analytically or by any means possible stator back iron and slot dept dimensions other than using machine design software or application. Also, the Rotor Core size or diameter so as to know the spindle diameter. In the course of my research, I had uncovered how to calculate slot width, tooth width, pole arc etc but am yet to solve above problem. Anyone with the solution please help! Thanks in anticipation.

The word-wrapping in PMs is broken. The easiest way to see what I mean is to look at the screenshot of this test PM I was kindly sent. It's not a major thing, but it does drop half-bricks in front of my bicycle of thought when I'm reading long PMs (of which I have had quite a few recently).
Posted by Kiteman 5 years ago
New PM email notification stopped working about 2 weeks ago, so I had a stack of new messages I didn't know about, until a messages from thingiverse, ask if had read his instructables PM.
Posted by liquidhandwash 3 years ago
It's been asked before, many times, but still has not happened. Can we please have formatting preserved in PMs? I've had a number of long PMs recently, and all very hard to read because they were in a single block of text. Yes, I know we can type in code ourselves, but I'm on my iPod right now, and a single line break in a PM takes 10 key-strokes!!
Posted by Kiteman 5 years ago
I've been experiencing very slow PMs recently, typically a delay of two days between pressing send and the message being received. The same has been happening the other way as well.Is it just me, or is something wrong? As an aside, I am typing this on a borrowed EeePC. Odd little beast.

First off, thanks to staff for fixing the return key function in PM's (private messages). Unfortunately, with one fix, something else breaks, as messages in PM's are now running off the page and out of the message box. I was able to confirm this with another member (so it's not just me). *Updated with screenshot of PM (viewing in Instructables) 2nd screenshot shows what PM's look like in my email (you'll see its really hard to read), and it wasn't like this before. After every word is (HTML non-breaking space). I presume this has something to do with the bug. - Mac OS X 10.6.8 - Safari 5.1.4

At the top of my screen, I have this: You Inbox (1) Shortcuts Logout Answers Contests Forums Submit Indicating I have a message in my PM Inbox. When I go there, I can find NO message that I have not opened, no matter how far I look down the list. nor how far I page down. I DID find the following however, a PM that I can not access as it has no title or description (see the TOP one on the list in the image; unlike the others, it has nothing to click on, to open it)
Posted by Goodhart 6 years ago
On each page that has a link to my INBOX, I am showing: INBOX (1)When I click on it, and go to the inbox, the top message is about one day old and I see nothing new. No new PM, so either there is a new one and it is not showing, or there isn't one and the indicator for how many new messages I have in my inbox is wrong.
Posted by Goodhart 9 years ago
Is anyone ELSE having difficulties with their PM INBOX? Mine says there is a new message to display, but when I go there, there is nothing before 19 hours ago. Yet the indicator says there is one new message. UPDATE: I found the new message....it was down in the list a bit (next page), but why it popped up there, I haven't a clue....

Private messages, whether written by hand or generated by Robot, get completely stripped of their line breaks. A message which is sent out reading, Instructables member XXX just sent you a patch! You can read the message, below, and then click through to your Profile to see the patch itself. --------------------------------------- You're a YYYY... ... so does the patch make you cringe? (If the animation works...) --------------------------------------- etc. What gets received and displayed in my I'bles mailbox is Instructables member XXX just sent you a patch! You can read the message, below, and then click through to your Profile to see the patch itself. --------------------------------------- You're a YYYY... ... so does the patch make you cringe? (If the animation works...) --------------------------------------- etc. Notice the lack of any line breaks. I know this is an active irritation, especially for Staff (who must deal with more PMs than any individual I'bles member). I'm curious as to whether the underlying cause is even known, and whether there's any estimate on when a fix might be rolled out.

Is there any way to produce comment emails that are more sensibly organised? Take, as a typical example, the last comment-summary email I got. This is the list of dates and times of the comments, in the order of the email: Date: Sep 26, 2011. 7:48 AM Date: Sep 26, 2011. 5:44 PM Date: Sep 20, 2011. 10:01 AM Date: Sep 26, 2011. 11:32 PM Date: Sep 26, 2011. 11:33 PM Date: Sep 26, 2011. 11:34 PM Date: Sep 26, 2011. 8:06 AM Date: Sep 22, 2011. 6:02 PM Date: Sep 26, 2011. 5:28 PM Date: Sep 26, 2011. 5:05 AM Date: Sep 26, 2011. 2:28 PM Date: Sep 26, 2011. 6:16 PM Date: Sep 26, 2011. 11:26 PM Date: Sep 27, 2011. 3:09 AM Date: Sep 26, 2011. 6:11 AM Date: Sep 20, 2011. 11:23 AM Date: Sep 27, 2011. 2:26 AM Date: Sep 26, 2011. 4:59 AM Date: Sep 26, 2011. 5:17 PM Date: Sep 26, 2011. 2:00 PM Date: Sep 26, 2011. 10:24 AM Date: Sep 26, 2011. 3:41 PM Date: Sep 27, 2011. 2:54 AM Date: Sep 26, 2011. 6:21 AM Date: Sep 27, 2011. 1:12 AM Date: Sep 26, 2011. 8:38 AM Date: Sep 26, 2011. 5:37 PM Date: Sep 26, 2011. 5:15 PM Date: Sep 26, 2011. 8:46 AM Date: Sep 26, 2011. 5:22 PM Date: Sep 26, 2011. 5:13 PM Date: Sep 20, 2011. 12:00 PM Date: Sep 26, 2011. 11:33 PM Date: Sep 26, 2011. 4:03 PM There is just no logic to the order, which makes it confusing to scan through and make sense of, especially on days with a lot of comments, and more especially when some of the comments are days out of synch. Speaking of which, those days-old comments didn't get a timely answer, because I didn't hear about them. That makes me seem tardy and poorly mannered, something which I try not to be (call it a cultural thing).

I have my alerts set to email me whenever I get a PM. I have had a number of PMs in the last few hours, none of them triggered an email. I understand other members are having the same problem. Plus... The time-stamp issue seems to be affecting PMs as well - the most recent PM turned up third down the list (Seriously, chaps, this time-stamp issue has been going on for far too long without some sort of comment from HQ)
