i was repairing a home amplifier when it "unrepaired" itself. help?

I found a samsung mm-c430 home amplifier the other day, and decided to take a stab at fixing it. i replaced a few burnt out parts and tried it out. nothing. then, while using my multimeter to check things, i noticed the main transformer wasnt putting out any voltages. this lead to more probing around a mosfet when suddenly the VFD lit up and the device appreared operational. my multimeter had shorted out two contacts and that led to the system starting up the way it should, rather than just turning on the LEDs. i turned off the device and turned it back on, and just the LEDs lit up. then i went back with my multimeter to the same spot and t started again! so i went and soldered two wires and a load (resistor) and went back to try again. the resistor burned, and the device did not power up properly. i tried again with my multimeter and nothing. i removed the wires and tried again, and still nothing. now im really confused with whats going on here. can anyone help? attached a photo. it was taken before any repairs were done, but the two points are labeled. the chip is a pwm controller, and the pin labeled is VCC

Adcom Amp GFA-555 II hissing out of the right side..too old to fix?

My Adcom GFA 555 II amplifier is producing a slight hiss/static sound from the right side. I made sure by switching the cables, and swapping terminal contacts and its always the right side (red and black). the music comes along with it, but its annoying to hear along with the static. You hear it most on quieter passages. It was coming and going, but now its heard all the time. I guess i have to take it in to fix, but its 20 yrs old, and i worry about paying to fix a broken part, only to have another part fail a week later.

High Voltage Amplifier

I am trying to build a high voltage amplifier that will amplify an AC signal of approx. +-5V to a signal of approx +-100V.  I was looking into building a common-source amp using JFETs or a common-emitter amp using BJTs, but both seem to have an output waveform of 0V to +100V.  Is there a way to modify these amps to have an output waveform of -100V to +100V?   Also, if anyone has any better Ideas, please let me know. Simple audio amplifier?

Alrighty, I'm a n00b to this world but I'm really into it. I just bought a simple amplifier kit and put it together. It is a stereo amp but I am only getting output to one speaker. The only problem I can think of is how i rigged up the inputs. I took a 3.5mm jack and combined the ground from the left and right channels. Can you not do that? How do I fix this without running two individual mono channels? Thanks in advance!

Converting a stereo system into an amplifier

Right so I have a Ministry of Sound, MT2, Power Tower, HI FI System. It has two external speakers which are fairly crap and a decent sub woofer. I want to take out the sound board and the screen interface, des guard the tape and CD player and remount them into a new housing. Currently the output sockets are 3.5mm headphone sockets which the speakers which came with it originally plugged into. However I have much better quality bookshelf speakers which I want to hook up. Is it possible to hook up my new speakers effectively turning e self contained stereo system into an amplifier?

Plz help......:(  Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you :) Sorry for bad English...:(

How powerful is this amplifier?

I bought this amplifier kit and I'd like to know what its capabilities are.   I was going to make a Chu Moy headphone amp but remember that I bought this a while ago and never did anything with it.  I'm going to guess that this isn't a top-notch amp, but I was wondering what I could get away with by using this.   Specs: music power output: 7W / 4ohm RMS output: 3.5W / 4ohm or 2W / 8ohm total harmonic distortion: 0.05% (1W / 1kHz) frequency response: 20Hz to 20kHz (-3dB) signal/noise ratio: 86dB (A weighted) input sensitivity: 40mV / 150Kohm overload and short-circuit protected supply voltage: 15V DC (8 to 18V DC possible) / 0.5A dimensions: 2.2 x 1.4" I'm assuming that this would be good enough for use as a headphone amp?  Would I be able to run this off a 9V battery?

Amplifying load cell signal with AD623 problem!

Hello folk! I am having some trouble with this. I have set up the circuit. Thing is, when i put a 1K resistor between pins 1 and 8, i am supposed to get a gain of 100, instead i am getting a gain of 50. If i put 500ohm resistor, instead of getting a gain of 200, i am getting a gain of 100. What is going on here? My load cell is a bridge type. im getting an output in the mVs so i know my load cell is working. Just the amplification part. Note that the load cell and ad623 have the same ground and the reference is grounded too[0V]. Whats happening? any help appreciated. Diagram is attached.

Ok, so I'm currently playing with the idea of making a "feedback clock". Except 1 to 12 is now replaced with 12 speakers, and only having one the hand which would have a microphone attached to the end of the arms. For the rotation of the arm, a geared DC motor. The problem I have is in the construction of this mechanism, so any help or thoughts would be welcomed. My original thought is constructing an amplifier with 12 outputs and 1 input. The input being a receiver, transmission coming from from the microphones attached to end of the arms. OR would it be possible to make individual smaller amps for each speaker and split take the signal from the receiver in to each amp? If I was to do a multi-channel out put amp, does anyone know what circuit design I would be looking at?

Need some help with a microphone Amp Answered

Hey everyone ! I'm trying to throw together a small audio project Using a electrolytic Mic, an amp, and a small speaker, Basically a Hearing Aid. I'm probably going to use small breakout boards (a mic pre-amp, and a power amp) then hook them up to the speaker but I would like to know if anyone has another Idea? Voltage can be 3.3-5V (Running off a Li-po) Speakers are 8-Ohm, 1.5W I'm not looking for outstanding quality, just clear enough to Easily follow a conversation. Preferably from standard components. Any Ideas? Thanks, Wired Mist

Please i want to ask this, i know some one is gonna help me.?

Those it really matter if i led my circuits on a breadboard or those it make any change if i use another things ells from the breadboard? lets say i use something ells like for example a plastic or a peace of word. i interne to use a peace of plastic so i can use wires to let my circuits together from bottom. will the wires affect my work if its done correctly? And please could someone get me out of this doubt? those it matter witch company produces transistors, or those it matter the type of transistor, or those it matter the size, or those it make no difference. I am asking thing because i am unable to locate the B C and E on each no matte witch type i use, so i suspect it being the reason why i have been unable to complete my project. maybe it could be that i need to know by a means of testing through something? Please i am asking because i do not know. hope its not bored to say. I hope it will not disturb if i do not connect my circuits directly but through  wires to link to each of them.

Just a thought, but what if you added a sort of a funnel to the windward side of the box that holds the belt? Could that allow a single windbelt to get more power out of less wind? Of course that would also make it more susceptible being to torn apart by a strong wind, speaking of which, has anyone thought of some sort of safety mechanism that would keep it from coming apart like galloping gertie? p.s. has anyone thought about the dynamics of the belt itself? Does a wider belt vibrate more? How about length, is longer better, or do you eventually reach a point where adding length has a nominal effect on the power generation? What about power storage? Couldn't you have it charge a battery, like solar cells do, and then use some sort of power inversion out of that? And by what method is the magnet attached to the belt? What about guitar pickups? I mean a single metallic wire as the belt and the box around it containing some sort of magnet/coil setup. Is that too inefficient, or could something like that be done? Because that might be able to withstand greater wind forces, although a cylindrical belt wouldn't work as well as a flat one.... I think that's all for now. Sorry to ask so many questions, but this idea really interested me.
