How do you use different herbs and spices in cooking and baking? I think I need to word this differently, since what I am really looking for is the Taste from different Herbs and spices, since I do know the difference and some basics. What I want to know is the Taste they may impart to the food I am preparing, such as Red Pepper tends to make things hot, Parsley tends to give things a sort of "lemony flavor", Cinnamon adds some sweetness and helps enhance the sweetness of some foods. The particular spices and herbs I want to know about are Tarragon, Cumin, Thyme, Saffron, Marjoram,Corriander and Cardamon. These are spices I want to try, but am not sure exactly what they do for the taste of food, and which foods they are best used in and how much!?!

When I just opened the plastic bag (stored inside a glass jar) they appear to have a fuzzy like moldy substance on them. Could this be mold? Help Should I throw them away?

Hey, In an effort to get some discussion going in this group I am posting a simple question: What is your favorite food? If there is an instructable for you favorite food please leave the name of the instructable too. My favorite food is fried cucumbers and tomatoes or bubble tea. There are lots of instructables for bubble tea.

Foods like grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken, salmon. We need to hold the food in the temperature zone for about 1 hour before serving.

I have a new food slicer (mandolin) and the included food holder that's suppose to protect your fingers when slicing food doesn't work very well. Any ideas on what to use?? I thought of the squeezie hair clip, or old hair pick, but haven't tried them.

I would like to sell food smoked food that's been smoked with wine barrel wood. Ive been told that all barrels are treated with linseed oil or flax seed oil on the outside of the barrel and that burning this is toxic. Cant find any info and need some secure info so I don't get sued! Chow, Lance

Hello, friends! I am looking for good quality snack foods that are easy to make and they must be (yes, must) delicious. Thank you.

Specifically ones that will keep and remain delicious. I live in Georgia and he is training in Mississippi. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
My Food Saver seals, and the Vacuum pumps sounds like it is working, but the air is not being sucked out of the bag.?
The unit has been working well for 10 years, and suddenly now will not remove the air from the bag. The sealing feature works fine, but no suction action during the sealing process.

I was told that its toxic to smoke food with wine barrel wood because its treated with linseed oil to make them waterproof and to keep contamination from going thru the wood. Ive searched all over the internet but cant find any info on the health effects of the smoke. I see many people selling this wood and I have tried it for smoking food but don't want to sell something that's harmful to eat. Any for sure info as it could be a legal problem for me. Chow. Lance

A few photos from the BBC -Photographer Carl Warner has painstakingly captured all kinds of food in a series of still lifes. He says his 'Foodscapes' were partly inspired by healthy eating campaigns. But they have not persuaded his own children to take up the five-a-day pledge. The photos must be shopped in some way, because they were apparently "taken in layers", so that part of the image didn't wilt whilst the rest was being prepared.Link to other images: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/in_pictures/7186989.stm

Recently built a pebble patio under my orgainically maintained apple tree d/t area always muddy from lack of sun. I need to spray the pebbles with some sort of adhesive to maintain the pebble's integrity. Any homemade suggestions or store- bought would be happily embraced.
