I want to use my laptop screen to play my PS1 rather than a T.V. for convenience. I hang out and play games with friends and would rather not lug a T.V around.

Hello. I was looking at building my own "gaming laptop" by putting an Alienware Alpha (i3 edition http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MA7AF74/ref=twister_B00PW1Z7TQ?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1) in a briefcase with a screen. Is there any way I can power these two items with a battery? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Everyone loves video games. And most everyone loves social change. So, video games for social change.... a sure winner! If you're in New York City next week, be sure to check out the Games for Change Conference. It's hosted by Parsons School of Design, the greatest school on the planet (I might be biased).

There are many games out there that have seemed to escape the public eye and has slipped under a sea of top-tier titles and remain unknown to many unfortunate gamers out there. I call upon the eccentric and the wise to cast their knowledge of lost gaming gems to those of us here, and let us have a few hours of gaming goodness. Remember that this is only for the lesser known titles, not the best or worst games. Thank you, and have fun.

Hello, I am making a game and I have ran out of ideas. I has hoping that maybe some people might have ideas they would want in a game. It has a building aspect to it like minecraft, or terraria. The game Is about a merge of time lines, like Medieval knights and gulf war soldiers. I don't really want a whole new plot, but small ideas like enemies or other little parts. Also If I use your idea, I will tell you and if its implemented in the game i might even pay you. Thanks you!

I know it's better to build a PC, but I want a public opinion on if it's better to upgrade a cheap PC or buy an expensive gaming rig. I'm getting tired of answers saying build it when I have already addressed this in a comment.

I am a bit of a gamer and I love my xbox 360 but people keep telling me that PC gaming is a million times better. I have bought PC games before and i have a small collection of games from my childhood including worms fortress, thief one and two and Diablo one and two with expansion packs. I have very little income, but I do plan on getting a job soon and saving some money and one of the things I would like to do is build a custom PC so that I can play my games. I dont need the best stuff, just good enough to play old games as I'm not going to pay over $50 for a game. I have never built a PC before and I know very little about hardware, but I have a friend that can help. So does anyone have any ideas on how to cut corners while building this? I would also like to build a case for it so any gaming case ideas will also help. P.S. I'm in South Australia, so I may not have access to some stuff.

What processor, optical drives? Which cases have some smarter, non-tool installation options? Which have an extra small footprint, but still cool for the gaming we want to do? What other pitfalls or smart shortcuts have you observed? Thanks for your brainshare!

Basically I'd like to make a nice semi reclined PC Gaming chair with a monitor mount that wraps around from behind the headrest , and a keyboard/mouse surface that is adjustable and swivels. SInce a picture is worth more than 1000 poorly used words, here is a product thats similar to what I'd like to build: http://kotaku.com/256206/new-game-chair-for-those-who-are-chained-to-their-pcs?tag=gamingfurniture I'd like to get a nice chair built for $300 or less, I'm fairly handy, and I also have a few friends that are professional welders and sheet metal workers that will be willing to give me a hand. Does anyone know of any plans or blueprints out there for a home made gaming rig similar to what I've linked to above?

i am wanting to take a 500w psu and turn it in to two parts so i can have half of it out of my computer in a power brick and the other half in, reducing heat and size. now you may ask what mad man would dream such a thing but here me out, I will be moving around alot and I want a gaming laptop but don't want to spring the cash to buy a good one so i figure with a bit of ingenuity and sacrificing the small footprint of a factory built i could make a gaming computer in a suitcase.

I know that its possible to get a ps3 running Linux, turning it into a fully functional computer. And some people say that it will make a good gaming computer, but the hardware doesnt seem to meet the requirements, only 325 mb of RAM when most games require 6gb. Will a ps3 be a good gaming computer running linux, or is it only good for gaming as a console?

How many of you Instructatarians play Minecraft? For those of you who don't, Minecraft.net. Its a sandbox game where you can create and destroy blocks to build structures and dig tunnels in either a vast single player world or collaborate in one of many public and private Minecraft servers with players around the world. Kind of like Legos, but as a game. For those of you who do, how many would like a private Instructables server? I've been thinking of setting one up.

We just sat in on our friend Jane McGonigal's SXSW talk on how life could be far more awesome and rewarding were it organized more like alternate reality games, and were lucky enough to get a peek into her new game, The Lost Ring. The concept is pretty neat: Ariadne woke up blindfolded in a corn maze outside of Johannesburg with no memory, Olympic-calibur athletic skills, and a tattoo bearing the words "trovu la ringon perditan" -- Esperanto for "find the lost ring." She sets out to find what is happening to her, and discovers others with similar stories. There's already a wiki, and the game will almost certainly spawn offshoot projects all over the net and physical world. Background info:The Lost Ring is a global alternate reality adventure created in partnership between McDonald's, AKQA and Jane McGonigal. Designed in collaboration with the IOC, The Lost Ring invites players from across the globe to join forces online and in the real world, as they investigate forgotten mysteries and urban legends of the ancient games. The Lost Ring recognizes McDonald's historic sponsorship of the Olympic Games, and brings the spirit of the Games to people around the world. It started a week ago and should run for around 6 months. Go check it out, and join up!

Hello people. I'm new to this business of building laptops, so I don't know anything, even where to get the parts. I would like to build a nice gaming laptop. My budget is 1000$, so if anyone is able to post a good set of parts including the barebone (so the parts would fit the barebone). Thanks in advance.

I want to be able to press a button on a little pad, like a WOW keyboard with programmable buttons, but they don't have to be programmable, I just want to have the important keyboard characters bunched up together. Can I do this with a breadboard, a keyboard, and some buttons? Thanks, That will work perfectly, I never thought of looking up Guitar Hero.

I had an idea although IDK how to implement it. I have a Vibrating massage chair (its just like a average recliner with some vibrators in it) I had lost the wall wort power adapter for this in a move a couple years ago and recently i had an idea while looking for gaming chairs and i thought to myself this would be more comfortable than something i could afford being a $500+ chair already i think I might try to fix it and in the process make it a gaming chair. I just dont know how........ So basically this chair uses a 12v 600MaH/.6v Power adapter (which i lost and when i was going to replace it thought i might me able to do more with this than just make it work again. So once it is plugged in it has a corded remote that has a back and seat vibration control's of off high and low. now i am not thinking of making the vibrations respond with intensity but just vibrate in general in conjunction with the system. I would say I have a Intermediate knowledge about soldering modding etc. Although I have no IDEA how to do this. I think it would somehow require a special Controller connected to the chairs power. As all i would want is the chair to vibrate when the controller does. The back oof the chair has a velcro flap that i an access the innerds of the chairs mecanism (i suppose for fixing it if it broke) So the only thing is how to hook up the controller in a way its not obtrusive to controlling it and simply how to do it. I know this may be a hard question to ask about without someone seeing the chair but is it possible??? How do gaming chairs achieve this effect ????? I would like it to be connected to the controller somehow and not the xbox as the cord is undesirable. So basically all I need to do is make some sort of circuit that is connected to the xbox controller that turns the chair on when it turns on. thats basically it. so first of all is it possible and if so any pointers??? I think it would also make a nice instruct-able after I find out how to do it. I assume it would require some soldering and at MOST and Arduino but I hope not as i do not have much experience with them. although if it does maybe someone can help me and all the Arduino Programing would all be credited to whoever helps me with the code. So yeah I would like to make this work I really think it would be cool as i already have a sound system that is good enough for sound (i can easily wire some extra speakers to be mounted behind the chair and once i get the vibration i would basically have a nice lay-z-boy gaming chair IDK. I have no xbox controller modding exp ( i never really wanted to or had the need) so it would be a learning experience for me although if it could be done with a USB connection to the Xbox that would be ok for now ( i would run it under the rug but its not the optimal result i want) In all since this chair already has the vibration mecanism i would think it would be possible and hopefully not that difficult to do. (at least i hope so) If this interests anyone I would GREATLY appreciate your help. and i will certanly tag anyone who helps me with this when i finish and make an instruct-able. So in all thank all of you who reply to this post and I hope i posted this in the correct forum as i never have asked for help on this site. THANK YOU ALL IN ADVANCE

Hello Instructables members, I'm quite new to the wood crafting world and after many hours of research and opinions i have decided to make my own desk. I've got a 3D model of what i want and the hardware i use that justifies the need for the desk i built. I am at a stand still though has i have no idea of what type of wood to use or where to place supports. I've tried my best at figuring it out myself but i don't seem able to get it right. So if anyone could help me out please do! Also if anyone has any ideas to accessories to build into this desk please feel free to share! I've already got plans for grommets and an outlet for my laptops power brick. My model is open to anyone to modify and change, i also thank those that designed the monitors and laptop i used. Desk
